So, the invitations have been one of the biggest DIY’s I’ve tackled, and I’ll be happy once every single one is sent out. Each step was more time consuming than I ever thought, and since I’m somewhat of a perfectionist, having people help kind of made me nervous. Of course it’s very much appreciated and I couldn’t have done it without the help of my family! Thanks Mom! Total invite’s made: 110. Now I’m off to the Post office to mail them out across the world.
We ordered all the black cardstock from a craft supplier, and cut each piece to size. Each invite then had to be scored down the centre and assembled.
We bought ivory pearlized paper and hand embossed each piece.
We had personalized faux wax seals made for the envelopes.

Hi Leah! These are really great. They look beautiful and much more elaborate than the typical DIY. I’m curious about more of the details. How do you hand emboss something? What were your parer sources? How did you attach the inside parts to the card or make the pocket? Also, being budget savvy . . . could you please share app. how much you spent per invitation.

@Sarah: We hand embossed the paper using a Die-Cut machine with our preferred pattern that my mom had from Stampin’ Up. The black cardstock and tape adhesive was also from there. http://www.stampinup.com/
The ivory pearlized paper and envelopes were from a store in Toronto called “The Paper Place”. And white light weight cardstock (info. cards) is from Michael’s as well as the ribbon. The pockets are just made from the excess black cardstock attached with the tape adhesive.
Ways to save:
-Use supplies you already have (die cut machine) or talent from people you know.
-Consider the size of the invite. Measure everything out and figure out the exact amount of pages you will need so you aren’t spending money on wasted paper. Oversized/overweight will cost you more in postage.
-Print them yourself on a good printer.
Splurges:
-Wax seal: $0.50 ea.
-Design (inside): $40
Total cost: $2.25 ea.(excluding shipping)
Hey, I am working on making my own invites as well and trying to figure out embossing. I looked up how to do it online and tried, and failed horribly but your invitations look fantastic. So, do you mind my asking how did you do it?
