Flower Alternatives: Vintage Brooches
This is one of my favorite alternatives to bridal flowers- the vintage brooch bouquet! This particular category could lend itself to being a time-intensive project- searching for pieces you like and want to include, not to mention possibly spending quite a bit of money trying to find enough pieces to make up your bouquet. And if you want to make them for your bridesmaids, too… now we’re talking a LOT of work and maybe a lot of money. But look at the result! So unique and beautiful- something you could treasure as a keepsake for years to come! I could see this in a vase in my house, a quirky little centerpiece.
Check out these gorgeous pieces:

These bouquets were made by Fantasy Floral Designs and photographed by Alice Hu.
Krista was lucky enough to get these beautiful pieces from her grandmother! Jackpot! I would definitely suggest checking with family members and friends- having pieces of them in your wedding day bouquet would be oh-so-special! I can’t wait to see how Krista’s bouquet turns out.

This one is a ‘mixed media’ bouquet with brooches, buttons, felt and beads! Very unique!

I really really love the ones with the large brightly colored enamel pieces- they really stand out! What do you think of this idea?

Oh my goodness!!! I have never seen anything like these before! They are absolutely beautiful and you will have it forever!! LOVE IT!
A vintage brooch bouquet was one of the first things I had my heart set on after getting engaged. They are so lovely! But after a couple of months I realized a) I couldn't afford to buy one made by a designer and b) collecting enough flower brooches would also be costly and time-consuming. I'd still love to have one, and will try to incorporate vintage flower brooches in other ways but sadly this is a feature my wedding will lack. I'd envisioned it just as you had – in a vase for years to come reminding me of the big day. They are beautiful to look at though!
Just an FYI — I'm currently a bride who is making her own brooch bouquet and it's not that hard!! I have been collecting brooches from Goodwill AND going to little beauty stores to buy $1 clip on earrings that look JUST like brooches. I made a DIY tutorial on my blog for anyone interested:

Honestly, I have spent about $40 so far and I'm almost done! My fiance's mom brought me a pack of 5 brooches from the women at her church. Trust me, there are so many people out there willing to help/contribute if you just ask. If your heart is set on it — try it! Feel free to contact me if you have any q's about it
I love, have loved and continue to love!!! I'm not much of a flower person anyway, so this was the PERFECT alternative. And almost everyone I know is contributing pieces, including a friend who is making hand-wired flowers for me. And my future mother in law DEMANDED that she be the one to put it together … since she loves this kind of thing. I'm not using a ton of actual flower brooches, but will include a few. i have a ton of critters, sports pins, etc that all mean something to me. Plus, eBay has lots for multiple brooches for like $5 that I'm getting. I get giddy just thinking about it!
Thank you for this great post. This has given me a more indepth insight in to clip on earings. I think I'll find the information gained to be very helpful indeed.
