Maddy Hague

My name is Maddy Hague, and I’m bringing you a new series called “Blooms on a Budget.” In this series, I’ll be designing floral arrangements for $20 or less to help you put together your own floral decor without breaking the bank.

I’ll be sourcing flowers from supermarkets, local flower shops, or floral markets rather than trade-only wholesale dealers. I share this in order to ensure the budgets are accurate and that it’s reasonable to assume you will have access to these flowers, as well.

If I only use a portion of the bunch – say, half, or a quarter – that will be reflected in the final budget. Therefore, if you’re estimating the cost for multiples, the final price will be as close as possible.

I may also incorporate non-floral materials, in which case, those materials will also be included in the final cost. Vessels will not be included in the cost. My hope is that it will be incredibly inspiring and relevant for you all as you plan your florals for your big day!

About this DIY centerpiece

For this particular arrangement, I used a small mercury glass vessel I had on hand. In the arrangement, I combined some creamy white tulips with some simple wax flowers to fill it up. This colorful and texture-filled arrangement would be perfect for a wedding at any time of year!

Since these little arrangements won’t take up a ton of space, you could easily add candles, a table runner, or other colorful details to the center of the table to round out your centerpieces.

Savvy Flower Tips

If you’re on an extra tight budget, you could make these arrangements even tinier in bud vases to spread the color out among your table for a fuller centerpiece, perhaps placing a large candle in the center. If you’re looking for another way to reduce the cost per arrangement or per table, you could incorporate extra filler pieces like greenery or baby’s breath!

As always, I hope you enjoyed this simple arrangement and that it inspires or empowers you to attempt some DIY floral arranging of your own!
