From time to time we get samples sent to us to review and share our findings with you gals here on BSB. (I’d call it one of the coolest perks of the job.) Today though, I’m not just sharing my findings, I’m sharing free samples for YOU as well! Talk about win-win!

I’m a sucker for beauty products of any kind- give me a potion or lotion and I WILL try it. So when Apothederm offered to let me try an item from their line AND share free samples with our readers I responded with a resounding YES! The product they sent me to test out is a Stretch Mark Cream, which I was a little taken aback by at first. I’m in my 20’s and have yet to have kids… I definitely DO NOT have stretch marks yet… UM, NO. That would be a lie. I’ve always been a yo-yo when it comes to my weight and over the years of gaining and losing I’ve developed some of these pesky little stretch marks – specifically around my upper thighs and lower back, where I seem to carry all the extra weight when I put it on. Over the last 4-5 years I’ve had a weight variation of between 35-40 lb differences, that’s enough to make the skin stretch a bit I’d say, especially on a 5’3 frame. Trés embarrassing, but this is the life of a blogger, sharing the TMI details. Hey, at least I’m being honest, right? If we’re all being honest, most of us probably have a little stretch mark action somewhere on our bodies– it’s part of growing up and growing older.

So anyway, I got my sample product in the mail and have been liberally applying it to my troubling stretch mark streaked areas (completely hidden from view from my husband, obviously.) After all, we’ll be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary this year in the USVI so I definitely want to look decent in a bathing suit for the photos documenting this trip. I think it’s too soon to tell if my marks are fading just yet, (I’ve been using it for about a week at the time I’m writing this post) but if nothing else I feel good about trying to take care of these pesky imperfections. It can’t hurt, right? :)

First impressions of the Stretch Mark Cream itself: it has a very pleasant smell– not overly perfumey or mediciney at all. It also is very silky smooth and absorbs into the skin very quickly, so it doesn’t feel sticky or greasy. In just a few moments it’s dry to touch and I’m free to get dressed and go about my day. I’m hoping that with a few months of diligence I’ll see my marks fade away into oblivion. If they don’t, I’ll just get a great spray tan :)

I mean, if you read the ingredient list, this stuff seems pretty fabulous and utilizes great natural ingredients for moisturizing: shea butter, cocoa butter, olive oil and highly moisturizing meadowfoam seed oil for a silky, fast-absorbing formulation. The solution also includes other advanced ingredients like  SmartPeptide® technology that helps build collagen while reducing the appearance of red and silver stretch marks, all while smoothing your skin’s texture and working to fade the appearance of stretch marks and nourish the skin. My skin DEFINITELY feels nourished so I can’t wait to see the results after a few more weeks of use!
