Carey + Doug | The Budget Savvy Bride
The Budget Savvy Bride

BSWOW

One of the best ways to keep your budget low is by keeping the guest count low! Carey chose to splurge on her wedding dress, a designer Lazaro gown, and keep the feel of the wedding intimate by having around 40 guests. They also chose a venue that did not need alot of decoration so that saved them alot as well. Everyone’s priorities are different, so choose what’s most important to you and fit everything else in around your top priorities. Hope you enjoy this edition of the BSWOW!

What was your budget?

We didn’t have a budget to begin with but our expenses were approximately $10,000 for the wedding and reception.

• Venue- Casa Feliz $1,800

• Cake – $375

• Catering -$2,500

• Flowers – $900

• Music – $750

• Photographer- $1,800

• Brides attire, designer gown and veil by Lazaro- $1700

How many guests did you have?

We had 40 guests.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

Doug and I did all the planning together and our goal was to create a simple yet romantic and elegant wedding. One of our most creative ideas was to have the wedding cake match the bodice of the wedding dress.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

To save money we planned it ourselves, kept the guest list down to just family and a few very, very close friends. We had a great venue which reduced the need for a lot of decorations and makes it easier for the photographer to take great pictures.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Keep it simple and choose a great venue and thereby reducing the need for a lot of decorations. Get a great photographer for lasting memories of your special day.

What was your biggest splurge?

Our splurge was our honeymoon. My dress was a bit of a splurge, but in general we kept everything simple but high quality from the food, flowers, and photographer.

What was your favorite detail?

Our favorite detail was the cake decoration matching the bodice of the dress.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

Our most memorable moment of the day was after the ceremony. When the priest introduced us as Mr. and Mrs. Bond, the musicians played the “James Bond” theme song.

We also chose a great venue that won't need any decorations – all we need is the table centerpieces (for the tables + chairs that they provide for us). Ours is a bit more expensive than yours was, but we just love it and along with the no decorations benefit, we also get to bring our own alcohol, which saves us a lot (open bar was a priority for us :P)

    congratulations!

I love this, especially because I've just decided I want to slash my guest list in half and have a nicer reception, much like one in the post!

Casa Feliz is an amazing, historic location in a beautiful part of Orlando. It’s one of our favorite places to photograph!
