Aboard the Seawolf Catamaran on Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall, TX

What was your budget?

Our budget was $5000

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

The Seawolf Catamaran was the biggest wow factor. It created the most unique and perfect backdrop for our wedding. We got married on a big sailboat; who does that?! Our guests really enjoyed it as well. All of our pictures are filled with smiling faces :) After our ceremony we handed out mini bottles of champagne to our guests. They loved it! We had four children on the boat and to keep them happy and entertained we gave them cameras and called them our mini photographers.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

The biggest thing we did to save money was to have a small wedding. The boat helped because we could only have 49 guests, including ourselves. It made for a truly intimate and romantic wedding. With a smaller guest list it also gave us more budget room to splurge on food and drinks.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Don”t be afraid to go non-traditional and think out of the box. We had no garter or bouquet toss and used an i-Pod to DJ the reception. We had our reception at our neighborhood”s clubhouse and rented it for $125 for the entire day! It was already beautifully decorated with rustic charm decor, two gorgeous fireplaces, and a outdoor patio. It allowed us to bring in our own catering and drinks and we added a few decor items as an extra touch. The decor was re-used from my wedding shower so no extra money was spent there! Oh and don”t be afraid to ask for discounts. We found out after we had booked our cake maker that they also did catering. They gave us a 10% discount and did not charge for rental fees. All I did was ask!

What was your biggest splurge?

Our venue – The Seawolf Catamaran. It was worth every penny!

What was your favorite detail?

It is so hard to pick one but I just loved my flowers. They were the perfect colors for Fall and really popped in the photos. Our guests seemed to dress around the color scheme so that was fun too!

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

My first dance with my husband. We did not plan for traditional dances but when I heard a certain song being played while we were on the boat I grabbed him and started dancing. It was incredibly romantic and I felt like we were the only people on the lake during that time.

Photographer – The fabulous Suzie Bell of Bubblegum Snapshots

      What a beautiful wedding!!

And I have to be honest–I am totally envious of your outfit! Your dress! Your shoes!! Love it all!

So much in fact, I have to ask–where did you get your dress?? I’ve had dreams of getting married in a tea length number with just a little bit of beading and lace, but I can’t seem to find anything anywhere. If you could point me in the right direction I’d greatly appreciate it.

      Congrats on the wedding!!

Renting your neighborhood’s clubhouse is one of the best cost saving tips I have heard. Great job! :-)

so beautiful!! Where is that wedding dress from?

  2. Thanks! I got the dress at David’s Bridal. It was only $99!

  3. Lovely wedding! Those flowers were gorgeous! Where did the bride get her brooch? That’s my favorite detail.

  4. I love when you highlight weddings! So many great ideas!

But I think you forgot to ask the most important question – Where did she find those amazing green shoes?

  5. Natosha – My brooch belonged to my late grandmother. It was my something “old.”

Jenny – I got my shoes from dsw.com. As far as I know you can still get them on their website!

I loved all of the details. Your flowers were amazing and your dress was so stunning. Lovely wedding

  6. Love the fact that the venue was so different and that there’s finally a spotlighted wedding where the bride is wearing a beautiful shorter length dress (I can’t believe it was only $99)!
