Asking my bridesmaids!

So last week I decided I really needed to officially ask my girls who I wanted as bridesmaids for my wedding. I already knew who I wanted to stand by me but I really wanted to do something cute for them. Money’s kinda tight for me as we are saving for the wedding but I wanted to at least make them a sweet card- so that’s exactly what I did!

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this before…

A typical homecoming float at my alma mater- pretty elaborate, huh?
This wasn’t one that my chapter did, I couldn’t find any pics on my computer… so this’ll have to do.

I went to college in the south where Greek life is kind-of-a-big-deal. I was an active member for 2 1/2 years before my intense art class schedule kicked in and I didn’t have the time to devote to the required activities. But, I will say that one of my favorite (and at the same time, most dreaded) parts of being a member was Homecoming. All our girls put in hours upon hours of time on HUGE projects- the biggest of all being a monster float that we had to instruct along with our assigned fraternity partners. WELL- the things we used to decorate these floats were called POMPS. Pomps are pre-cut square tissue paper pieces that we folded, rolled, and stuffed through chicken wire to make our masterpiece floats. So it kinda hit me the other day that these pomps that we used were the perfect thing to use to make some pomanders for our ceremony decor!

A Cheap and Easy Save-The-Date idea

So by now I’m assuming you all have heard of Wordle- the online application that allows you to turn a string of words into a lovely word cloud. I think this program is SO neat- I have to admit I play around with it alot. Well, the idea struck me the other day that it could be used as a cute Save-The-Date! Just type in the details of your wedding, your names, date, location, time, etc- and voila! You’ve got a word cloud describing your wedding! I’ll walk you through what I did so you can see how I made it work!

Possible Invite Idea

Here’s an invite idea I’ve been working on. I’m thinking layers, here. The yellow strip across the middle will be ribbon, wrapped around a layer of heavy paper/cardstock with the printed info on it, with a piece of vellum over the bottom portion. All this mounted on a teal or turquoise backing. Thoughts? 1x1.trans in Possible Invite Idea and my many talents diy projects

Since my wedding is going to take place outside, I thought this idea was SO great. Why not make your wedding program useful? Most of the sites I found online charge 3-6 dollars a program to make these- but they could totally be DIY. Granted, it will be quite labor intensive, but I think it’s perfect. All you’d need is the papers you want to use and a brass grommet or what they call an eyelet to make the pages movable. (And a whole heck of a lot of time to cut all the pages to shape). Then you can add pretty ribbons to the end that match your colors! And you can put your monogram on the front and everything! Man… I get WAY too excited about paper products!!! haha. I even found
