helping brides create beautiful weddings without breaking the bank

Thanks to new blogger friend Jeannine from Small & Chic in Cville who wrote to share this amazing resource for brides in Central Virginia.

“Last weekend, I stumbled upon a charity bridal store in Lynchburg, VA (central Virginia) called Church Street Bridal.  Their proceeds go to benefit the local YWCA, which apparently does a lot with survivors of domestic violence.  They get dresses from bridal salons and designers and resell them for $200-$500.  Their biggest source of dresses is Kleinfeld in Manhattan. [of Say Yes to the Dress fame, y’all] I was in shock as I flipped through dresses by Monique Lhuillier, Carolina Herrara, Pnina Tornai, Rivini, etc. with price tags that never went over $500.

The place was empty.  The two girls working there said that people rarely seem to know the labels or how good the deals are.  I felt like I had to get the word out.  So, I posted about the place on my blog a few times (here , here , and here ).  [check out that last post– some $5k gowns for less than $500??? amazing, y’all!] I thought of Budget Savvy Bride immediately.  So, I thought I’d pass the info along to you.  If you come across a bride in the general region on a modest budget, I hope you’ll pass the info along.”

Thanks Jeannine for thinking of the BSB community to share this amazing shop! Some more info from their site:

Whether you want to score a bargain or you are just curious, stop by during our listed business hours–there is no need to make an appointment.  You can feel confident in your purchase knowing that the money spent will be used to help women and children in Lynchburg and the surrounding communities.

The YWCA of Central Virginia established Church Street Bridal Shop in 2004.  It was the YW’s goal to find a way to raise funds for the programs offered for women and children, as well as provide a service to the community.  By marrying the two ideas together, Church Street Bridal was formed, offering designer wedding gowns at off-the-rack prices. Church Street Bridal, Too (located in the basement level) houses bridesmaid, prom, mother-of-the bride and cocktail gowns. Between the two shops there are extras such as flower girl dresses, veils, tiaras and shoes. Now, Church Street Couture, located inside the Galleria at 915 Main Street, boasts beautiful couture and designer gowns for off-the-rack prices.

The gowns in the shops are NEW!  They have never been worn other than being tried on or used as a floor sample.  For $200-$650 you can purchase a bridal gown that retailed for $800-$12,000.  There are even dresses in the Mezzanine clearance for $10-$208.  If it’s formal gowns you need, you can purchase them for between $25-$250…and check out the sale room for deals from $10.
