A lovely wedding on a lovely Sunday. This crafty beach wedding was submitted to us by Studio Sequoia, and they did a wonderful job capturing the details of the day! Faith was a bride who was really into DIY, the majority of the items she had were made by either her or close family and friends- a great way to save money! I love the fact that she made her wedding bouquet out of maps of the places she and Jared traveled to while dating- such a unique and personal detail! The wedding took place at the beautiful Calumet park, which sits on a cliff that overlooks the pacific ocean in San Diego. Such a gorgeous view and an equally gorgeous wedding! xoxo- Jessica

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
I made all of the decorations, bouquets, and boutonnieres. I added maps of the places Jared and I have been together and where we have lived into the bouquets. Travel is a huge part of our life together and we wanted that incorporated as much as possible. Jared helped me tint mason jars for our center pieces. The shells that were on the jars were hand picked by us on one of our many walks along the beach in Encinitas. Our guest book was wine corks from wine bottles we have shared with friends and loved ones before the wedding.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We never purchased items that we absolutely did not need. We did not give wedding favors. We hunted for the best deals, or looked to see if we could make it ourselves for cheaper. Our families helped a lot and took care of bigger expenses. My mother in law works for a Tuxedo company, so all of our suits were free including the fathers and ring bearers. She also purchased our Invitations because she received the price through her company. My Aunt and Uncle offered their home for our reception and paid for the table rentals, table clothes, outside heaters, food, beverages, and my wedding dress. My cousin owns a cake decorating company out of Phoenix, AZ Buttercream Dreams. She did our cake and the candy bar for us.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Take more time. Ask for more help. Add more little touches to make it a little more personal. Don’t let people push you around or make you feel guilty about anything. Especially your own family.
What was your biggest splurge?
Our photographers. We didn’t go for their largest package and we still received everything from them we could’ve ever asked for. Everyone told us that our photographers would be the most important purchase for our wedding and we couldn’t agree more. Studio Sequoia was the best fit for us and wonderful to work with.
What was your favorite detail?
My bouquet held all the places Jared and I had shared together. It was special to me to hold those memories with me as we started new memories together that day. Attached I also held a beautiful watch that belonged to my grandma. My mother gave to me as my something old.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Exchanging of our vows that we wrote for each other.
