This week I’m using my Canon MG7720 to print + cut with the Cricut Explore Air! I’ve designed these darling little gift boxes for a bridesmaids proposal idea! These simple cardstock boxes are perfect for placing a gift inside for your bridesmaids, or anyone really!
The Cricut Explore Air is a must-have for a DIY bride who wants to personalize her wedding. Best of all, you don’t need to be a professional to get fabulous results with the Cricut. Their design space software gives you so many tools and projects to create right at your fingertips!
Make your own gift boxes for a bridesmaids proposal using Cricut!
You might have seen in one of my recent posts that I made a super simple and adorable pair of DIY earrings using materials from Fire Mountain Gems that would make a perfect little gift for your bridesmaids! (Want to see how to make the earrings? See the whole tutorial here.)
I thought these cute little bridesmaids proposal boxes would be the perfect way to package this sweet gift for a truly personal and adorable way to pop the question to your best girls! I also made this super cute confetti to go along with this project, because who doesn’t love confetti 😉
How to Make Bridesmaids Proposal Boxes with Cricut Explore Air
Follow the steps below to make this project!
What you’ll need:
- Cricut Explore Air Machine
- Cricut Design Space account
- Design Files (download them below)
- Color Printer (I used the Canon MG7720)
- Cardstock in the color(s) of your choice (this is the pack I have)
- Cricut Tools
- Cricut Scoring Tool
- Tape runner

Download the design files I’ve created! Enter your details below to get the files you’ll need to complete this project! 👇🏼
Upload the Files to Design Space
Upload the bridesmaids’ proposal box file into Design Space so you can print and cut your box. Watch the video below where I show you how to apply score lines to your project to make it easy to fold and assemble your box!
Click “GO”
Click the green GO button in the top right of the design space to create your project. It looks like this:
Print Your Box Design
The Cricut software will place the design on a page for you to print and then cut. Click the “PRINT” button to print your sticker design.
Make sure your printer is loaded with cardstock in the color you want to print. I used a pale pink and a pale purple for this project from this pack of cardstock I picked up at Michael’s. I used the Canon MG7720 to print this project!
Mount Your Cardstock on a Cricut Cutting Mat to Cut
Once you’ve printed your design, then mount your cardstock to a Cricut Cutting Mat, and insert it into your Cricut Explore Air. Make sure your Cricut materials dial is set on Cardstock+ so the machine applies the proper pressure to cut through the thicker paper. Once the mat is loaded into the machine, you can click the Cricut GO button on your machine and watch it work its magic!
Remove Design from the Mat, Then Assemble the Box
Remove the cardstock from the Cricut Cutting Mat and assemble your box using a small tape runner. Use the tape runner on the flaps of the box and then press them together with your fingers. You can see how to assemble the box in the photos below!
Voila! You have a box! To complete this project, I placed 1 tissue inside the box and then placed my DIY Bridesmaids Earrings inside. TOO CUTE, RIGHT?!
How to Make DIY Gemstone Confetti for your Bridesmaids Proposal with Cricut
But that’s not all, I also made this fun confetti to go along with this project! I chose the same shade as the boxes as well as one shade darker of both the pink and the purple to make the confetti. Here’s what you need to do to make the confetti:
Upload the files to Design Space
Upload the gemstone file to Design Space and resize to make the gems as large or small as you’d like them. Then click Go!
Repeat the number of gems
Increase the number of gems you want and click apply until it fills up most of your paper.
Prepare Your Paper and Cutting Mat
Place your cardstock in the color of your choice on your Cricut Cutting Mat and insert it into your Cricut Explore Air. Ensure the machine is set to Cardstock+ to cut through this thick paper.
Press “Go”
Press “Go” on your Cricut Explore Air and watch the machine work its magic!
Weed Your Cut Design
Peel off your confetti using a Cricut Scraping Tool. Bend your Cricut Cutting Mat to try to loosen up some of the edges to make it easier to peel. I also used this poking tool quite a bit to get the tiny little pieces out.
This was a pretty tedious part of the project, but I find these sorts of things almost entrancing/relaxing. I used 4 different paper colors for the confetti, and I made 2 sets a bit larger than the others for more contrast.

Now enjoy your confetti! This would be cute to mount on top of your bridesmaids’ proposal boxes with your tape runner, or you could put it in a card or a gift bag! So much fun!

It can do so many things, just like the Cricut Explore Air, so it’s an amazing duo to have together because the possibilities for Print + Cut projects are endless!
