helping brides create beautiful weddings without breaking the bank

Last week I posted about Wrapp, this week I’d like to share with you Ebates.com for extra wedding savings.

Are you purchasing anything online for your wedding? Before you go straight to the website, check out Ebates first. Ebates is an online shopping center that earns a commission from the stores when you make a purchase. Instead of keeping the money like other sites do, Ebates shares the commission back with you.

100’s of online sites participate in Ebates, including The Knot Wedding Shop, Beauty.com, Ann’s Bridal Bargains, Blue Nile, Victoria’s Secret, Kohls, Macy’s, Target,  JC Penny, and more!

Another bonus by using Ebates, they not only offer you a cash back percentage for your purchase, but many times also offer online promo codes to use for additional discounts!

Ebates makes quarterly payouts and can either transfer your earnings to a PayPal account, or mail a check directly to you. I’m always skeptical of giving out PayPal, and opt for the check option.

When you first sign up to join (it’s free), they’ll offer you a $10 gift card bonus. There’s several stores to choose from including Macy’s, Walmart, Target, and Sears. After you make a $25 purchase though them, they mail you the gift card.

So, here’s a scenario: Sign up and choose the $10 Target  gift card. As I write this Target is offering a 2.5% cash back.  Make a $25 purchase online at Target, pay in full and you’ll get a .625 cent refund later. Might not sound like a lot, but if you’re going to make a purchase anyways online, why not?  It’s like paying $14.375 for $25 worth of stuff! (paying $25 total purchase – $10 gift card bonus – .625 Ebates refund = $14.375).  And, to make this deal even sweeter, if you’re a Target Red Card holder, you always get free shipping online and an extra 5% discount (But I never suggest using a credit card if you can’t pay it off immediately when the bill is due – the interest negates any savings).

Always go to Ebates first before making your online purchase in order to snag the cash back later.  Once you are on the Ebates site, enter into the search field what online store you are looking for. Ebates will redirect you.

Remember when I mentioned SpaFinder offers a $5 gift card on Wrapp? Well, before going directly to Spafinder.com, go though Ebates first for an extra discount! The last time I combined both, I ended up paying the equivalent of $18.80  for a $25 gift card. ($25 gift card – $5 Wrapp certificate = $20.  $20 * .06 cash back = $1.20 Ebates bonus). Granted, the $1.20 savings isn’t instant, but I was going to the salon regardless, might as well get the most bang for my buck here!

Have friends who are shopping online for your registry? Refer them to use Ebates! Not only will you help them save money, Ebates also has a Tell-a-Friend program where they credit you $5 for each successful referral (Read the fine print on their website for more details, basically a successful referral involves a  new member  that makes a $25 or more purchase).

Several other sites exist out there similar to Ebates but from my experience Ebates is my favorite. I’ve used others, but they’ve taken much longer to verify purchases and issue checks.

Share below what Ebates deals you’ve snagged!

Happy Planning,

Dana

Thanks for the great tip! I signed up for Wrapp last week after reading your post, and will check out Ebates as well.

I have used Ebates in the past, but I’ve actually found Shopathome has a WAY higher payout rate! Give those guys a try as well.

That’s great Shannon! Have you gotten any deals with Wrapp yet?
As for ShopatHome, I’ve tried using it in the past, but didn’t find it to be very user friendly. I never received my rebate from them either, and ended up having to block all the spam they kept sending! TopCashBack was another I’ve tried, but again I haven’t liked it as much as Ebates (Still waiting TopCashBack to verify purchases I made back in July!).

Wish I had known how this worked earlier! Thanks for posting. :)

Thanks for the information! I’ve been using Ebates for a little while and I never got the bonus offer, and I hadn’t thought twice about it. I’ll be putting that on my list of things to do today. :)
