Hello fellow budget savvy Brides My name is Joscelyn and I’M GETTING MARRIED!! I’m so excited to be joining the budget savvy team! I was drawn to this blog the first time I saw it and have been a frequent visitor ever since. I can’t wait to share my wedding planning ups and downs with you.
Here’s a little bit about myself: I’m 24 years old and I’m a city girl at heart, growing up in Pittsburgh, PA. My fiance, Nathan was born and raised in farm country PA but we now live together in Greensburg, PA with our loveable, high energy golden retriever, Myla. I work at a specialized school for children with Autism and taking grad school classes in the special education field. I love the kiddos I work with and they’ve taught me a lot about myself. Nathan is 23 and is currently finishing his Doctorate of Physical therapy program. I’m really proud of him for making it through 6 years of grueling course work and looking forward to him graduating so we can start our grown-up lives together.
Nate and I have been together for 5 years now, we met our sophomore year of college at a mutual friends going away party. He stole my heart that night showing me his fancy ice skating move, which consisted mostly of falling on his butt.
Nate proposed in our bedroom, right after I brushed my teeth. I was non the wiser! We had gone to see wicked in Pittsburgh with my parents and he kept telling me he had a surprise for me, I honestly had no idea what it was and eventually forgot about it. By the time we made it back to the apartment I was tired, shoeless and ready for bed. He told me he wanted to give me my surprise and I asked him to wait until the morning, but he insisted that it HAD to happen right then…I at least got him to let me put on my pajamas and brush my teeth. When I came out of the bathroom he told me to sit down and cover my eyes. When I opened them there he was, on one knee, with the most perfect vintage ring. I cried like a baby. He says I never actually said ‘yes.’
I started planning the wedding right away, after months of ‘pinning’ my perfect wedding I knew I wanted something simple, rustic, and elegant. He didn’t need much convincing. We’re planning a fall wedding on November 3, 2012. Our reception is in an old civil war barn with decoration to match. We have to plan for around 225 people, the majority being Nate’s large Italian family. It’s been a challenge at times, but so much fun. I can’t wait to share everything with you!
The picture of my ring is from our wonderful photographer Jessica (more on her later!), more of her work can be seen here: http://jessicavogelsangphotography.com/
