If you follow me on Instagram, you might’ve noticed that my husband and I recently went on an ultra-fab vacation to the US Virgin Islands to celebrate five years of marriage. Between our anniversary trip and the Cabo trip I took in April, it’s safe to say I feel like an expert beach goer now. Plus, I have a killer tan. (Don’t worry – I’m a fanatic about sunscreen!)

After coming back from my trips I decided to make a list of all the beach essentials I recommend for having a wonderful time at the beach. Plus it gave me a chance to do some online window shopping – who doesn’t love that? Without further ado, here are my honeymoon beach essentials:

First thing’s first – you’ll need a large-and-in-charge bag to carry your beach gear in – I am kinda in love with this Polka Dot Beach Tote from Target. Obviously you’ll need a cute swimsuit– I recommend a Bandeau or one with detachable straps to keep those pesky tanlines away. A big floppy Sunhat is a definite must-have to give your face a break from the harsh rays, and I never leave home without a pair of Sunglasses (because squinting gives you wrinkles!) A cute pair of Flip Flops is obviously on the list, along with trusty oil-free Sunscreen in lotion and spray varieties. Always remember Lip Balm to keep your lips moist and kissable – it is your honeymoon, after all!

Most likely if you’re staying at a resort they will have towels on hand for you, but I like to bring along a big beach blanket so I can stretch out on the sand with a book or magazine. Speaking of entertainment, don’t forget your favorite magazines or your trusty Kindle filled with reading material. I also suggest picking up a bluetooth wireless audio Speaker– this one from Target pairs with your smartphone to blast your tunes out loud for a fun beach day! One budget savvy trick we picked up on our vacay – bringing Tumblers for mixing our own beach drinks in the room. Saved us a ton of money!
