Simple Wedding Cakes
The Budget Savvy Bride

Fancy or intricate designs on wedding cakes can really drive up the price of your cake. Cake prices usually depend on how complicated a design is because of the time it will take to create it. Choose a simple wedding cake silhouette and add some flourishes like ribbon, fresh flowers, fruit or a cute cake topper for a budget friendly cake! Want to be extra budget savvy? Have a small cake for you and the groom to cut during the ‘cake cutting’ (if you take part in this tradition) and serve your guests sheet cakes – they are easy to slice and serve in equal portions and won’t cost nearly as much as a larger, tiered cake!

I love your suggestions of sheet cake and the small cake to cut infront of the guests.

I’d also like to add on when you look into your venue ask if they have any discounts with local cake shops. There are many venues that have connections for bakeries, florists, djs, and photographers. Most people are more than happy to offer you suggestions for how to save money and understand that couples are working within a budget. I know that asking the venue I was working with really helped my future husband and I save some money.

Best of luck to the rest of the future brides out there!
