helping brides create beautiful weddings without breaking the bank

M&M at Casa Bonita!

Hi everyone, I’m super excited to share the process of planning our awesome wedding with you all!

I’m Meg, 25, from Connecticut but I have lived in California for 6 years; I like to think of myself as a CA girl now. My LOML (love of my life, the acronym is admittedly lame, but is also convenient and addictive) and future husband likes to blame my worrisome nature on my East coast upbringing :)

I have a degree in Anthropology, but I work as a postpartum doula.  Don’t worry if you have never heard of this, most people haven’t!  Basically, I care for new mothers and their infants in the first three months after birth, helping them with lactation, postpartum depression and just getting through the day-to-day as a new mom. I specialize in twins, so bring on the babies!

My fiance is Matt, 28, a San Francisco native, and he is finishing his PhD in Mathematics at UCLA. He spends his days working on his thesis and teaching young goobers the joys of math. You can read his awesome blog here (shameless plug, I know).

We live in LA with our cat, Umeboshi (Japanese for salted pickled plum, we call him Boshi for short), and we love to watch well-produced serialized television, host random parties, bake birthday cakes, and root for our SF Giants. Fear the beard!

Boshi likes Math just like his daddy!

We are planning a small (100 guest) celebration at a private estate in Simi Valley, CA on August 20th, 2011. We are going for a casual but fun and rustic event (on a budget!), including a DIY photo booth, guestbook bench, dance party, mustaches, and It’s-its! Our budget is $10,000, provided by us and our families, thanks family!

Matt and I met in SF and have been together for 5 years now.  We met on Craigslist, but this is an embarrassing story I will save for a later date. We can’t wait to get hitched and whisk off to Costa Rica for our two week honeymoon!

We hope you will save the date!
Our STD was inspired by another bride, but I’d like to think we (+ Boshi) made it our own :)
