So, I thought it was about time I told you how we plan to breakdown our budget and the DIY list I plan to tackle. We really want to keep our wedding under $15,000, right now, as budgeted, we’re at roughly $13,000. This allows for wiggle room if needed.
We tried to spread out our budget evenly. We both wanted a photographer who had similar style to ours (vintage, timeless, and simple) and a D.J who was willing to play the music that we enjoyed and not stick to the traditional wedding songs (shout, the train, etc). We’re not really into the cheesy love songs, and REALLY not into group dances. I’m sure there will have to be a few of them, but we’re trying to keep them limited.
Nathan has a very large family, so it was important to us to prioritize our budget so that we could afford catering for everyone. We’re limited in our catering choices because our venue is owned by the caterer and they don’t allow outside businesses to come in, so if we wanted the barn, the caterer came too.
Anticipated budget breakdown:
Dress/shoes/jewelry: $1200
Wedding Photographer/Engagement Pictures: $1,000
Grooms outfit: $100
Reception hall: $800
Caterer (250 people) $6000
Church: $500
Bridal Party Gifts: $200
Music: $600
Rehearsal Dinner: $200
Liquor: $500
Hair/Makeup: $150
Transportation: $100
Floral: $800
DIY projects you plan to tackle:
Guest book, bridesmaids gifts, gift for the groom, centerpieces and a cornhole set for the parking lot while our guests wait for us
Wish me luck!

We have a pretty similar budget and breakdown, I also have the same planning book! Looking forward to hearing more about your big day! Are you building the cornhole boards yourself? If so, let me know if you need plans. My fiance and I just finished building 3 sets and sewing the bean bags as a wedding gift for a friend. I’m planning on doing a tutorial post soon.
ooooh can’t wait to see the tutorial, Erin!!
@Erin We purchased our board at a local craft store, but Nate’s painting them by hand and I’m sewing the bean bags. I made a trial pair and we started painting them this weekend. I can’t wait to see how yours turn out!
I’m so excited to see them!!
