helping brides create beautiful weddings without breaking the bank

I'm a sucker for photographs and although I've struggled with it in the past, I'm making a much more concerted effort to print my treasured memories and photos these days. Last fall, upon first moving to NYC, my husband and I decided to get some lifestyle photos taken in the neighborhood by our first New York apartment. Much like our wedding day, our move to NYC was a leap of faith and the beginning of an incredibly exciting adventure, and I knew I wanted to document this time so we could remember how it felt to be new New Yorkers.

We had a list of things we definitely wanted for our photo session:

  • A familiar and meaningful location for us
  • Had to include our pups, Knox & Zooey
  • Wanted to look like ourselves — not too dressy or formal
  • Had to be done before it got too cold!
  • A photographer who we felt comfortable and friendly with who did AMAZING work

We chose the equally talented and sweet Brandi of Alexis June Weddings to shoot our photos and we had such a wonderful time with her. She met us at our apartment and we walked the short block over to Central Park.  My hubby E & I scurry over to the park several times a day to walk our pups, Knox and Zooey, so it was a complete no-brainer that we'd do our photos there. Plus, October was the perfect time to take the photos – the weather was still quite mild and the leaves had begun to change. We really picked the perfect weekend for the photoshoot!

Brandi got so many gorgeous photos of us, we even used them on our Christmas cards last year. Other than our cards and my facebook profile photo, I didn't get around to doing anything with the photographs, so I decided I (finally) needed to change that.

After hemming and hawwing over which individual photos I could print, I decided that a custom photobook would be a better way to package and enjoy as many photos as possible. Because I'm pretty short on time these days, I wanted the quickest and easiest option available to me while also keeping quality and price in mind – so MyPublisher is really a perfect choice.

I hopped over to the MyPublisher website – set up an account, and quickly downloaded the free software. I chose my folder of images that Brandi sent over to me and let MyPublisher work its magic. I really didn't edit much at all of what the software did by itself, other than change a few “Page Layouts” to make certain photos larger than others.

Here's a preview generated by MyPublisher. Want to see my entire photobook? Check out the preview here.

After I had previewed my book, I submitted the book via the software. There are many different customizable choices when you check out – from cover options to paper quality, special keepsake gift boxes and more. I chose a nice linen cover in a bold shade of Mango to accompany the gorgeous fall colors in our photos. I also chose the lay-flat pages (an additional $25 per book – SO worth it though) and the premium paper option, and added a gloss coating for durability.

I ordered and it took about a week to come in with standard shipping. I have to say – I am so thrilled with the way it turned out. It's stunning! The lay-flat pages make it easy to see the whole image without anything getting sucked into the “gutter.” I'm so glad that I did this, and now I have a physical reminder of this exciting time in our lives that we can treasure for years to come!

These albums from MyPublisher would be great as guestbooks for your wedding (although I'd opt for non-glossy pages if you're going that route), you could even create parent albums of your wedding photos to give to your families as Christmas gifts! When you order your book, you'll have the option of ordering additional copies at a HUGE discount, so you can totally cross some presents off your list!

Speaking of gifts, MyPublisher is offering one lucky reader of The Budget Savvy Bride a $100 credit!
