Nesting Inspiration... Black Kitchen Cabinets | The Budget Savvy Bride
The Budget Savvy Bride

I know you all might think I’m crazy for this… but I’m kind of obsessed with the idea of black kitchen cabinets at the moment.

See our kitchen is open into our living room and the honey maple shade of our current cabinets just doesn’t sit right with me when facing the black tv stand and black shelves in our living room. I mean… it’s not something that I would be doing anytime soon… but for some reason I can’t get it out of my head.

Maybe these inspiration photos will convince you…

Super sexy, no? Paired with granite countertops and wood floors (hopefully someday)… I think our kitchen would look fab! A girl can dream, right? :)

  1. Yes, you are correct. Light kitchen cabinets are a nightmare. I have white. Our new abode with sport much darker cabinets.

OMG, me too! Thank you for posting these pictures, I'm forwarding them to Big Spoon ASAP!

  2. Those look great and they just look dark brown, so I'm sure no one thinks you're crazy.

Love the inspiration photos! It would be much cheaper though to change your tv stand and shelves to match your cabinets, rather than swapping out the cabinets! :oP Yeah, I know that would be lame, but it would be budget savvy! :)

Do you know that you can paint and finish your cabinets yourself? I just did ours with my new husband (married may 23,2009) in november. We have light wooden hideous 1950's cabinets-now they look amazing! All you have to do it sand, prime, sand again, and then paint them three times!

Thanks so much. :) My wife found this entry and forwarded it to me. Before I got the note she asked me what I thought about black cabinets and I just kinda arched my brow. I’ve learned after 20 years with this saintly woman to never question her style aesthetic. Not because she will get angry but because she is always right. No…she *IS* always right. :)

So…here I am looking at this and looking at my kitchen wondering just which weekend is going to get wrecked as we rip out all our cabinets and do this.

So again. Thanks. So. Much. :)
