Howdy there my blog friends- hope my minor freak-out moment last night hasn’t made you all run for the hills. Sometimes I just get emotional and need to get it out, ya know? I appreciate all your comments, and like I told some of you- I’m glad that I can use this space (*my* space) to be truly honest with you about what I’m going through. I’m thankful that I don’t have to pretend that my life and wedding planning is all sunshine and rainbows- because we all know it is NOT. It wouldn’t help any of us for me to pretend it was- because how would we relate to each other? I really am thankful for all the thoughts and prayers that have been sent my way and just know that I think about you, my virtual friends, very often and hope and pray and wish the best for all of you, as well.
Anywho, I decided that I would share with you my oh-so-(un)original resolutions for 2009 in an effort to light a fire under my @$$ and get me motivated to do some of the things I need to be doing!
1. Develop an exercise routine that works for me and stick to it.
I told you- soooo unoriginal, I know. After completing boot camp, I’ve kind of let exercise slide. I’ve not been consistent with working out since camp ended, although I must say i’ve had a slew of excuses (which I think are valid but should not keep me from exercising nonetheless.) So now that I’ve moved home with the parents I need to come up with something that works for me and my life and schedule here.
2. Eat healthy!
Duh, everyone says this every year, right? Just like the whole ‘exercise’ resolution. My family and I are all going to get back on a modified version of Michael Thurmond’s 6 week body makeover plan… it’s tough but it really works better than any other diet I’ve tried. My boot camp diet didn’t work so well for me- it had me eating carbs at every meal and I don’t think that helped me achieve any of my weight loss goals. With the Michael Thurmond plan, I learned about my metabolism and how my body burns fat based on where it collects in my body and how fast it collects. Because I have a pretty slow metabolism, I was only supposed to be eating carbs at 2 meals a day, because it’s hard for my body to burn it off. I’m excited to start this system back because it works and you see results fast! I’ve got a ways to go before I’m at the weight I want to be at for the wedding so I need to get back on that wagon!
3. Create a 101 in 1001 list.
I’ve seen these all over the blogosphere- people create a list of 101 things they’d like to accomplish in 1001 days. (about 2.75 years, or 2 years and 9 months.) I truly believe it can be really helpful in setting timely goals and doing things that you never thought you’d do. I already have a TON of things I know I’d love to put on the list so I really need to sit down and flesh out the rest.
4. Be a more positive person.
I’ve always considered myself a realist rather than a pessimist, but the truth is sometimes it’s the same thing. I am really hopeful that I can change my negative (or realistic) way of thinking and instead learn to dream BIG, see the positive in every situation, and surround myself with people who do the same. I am SO happy to be back in Middle TN, because E & I just have SO many great friends here who I believe embody this attitude and I’m hoping that spending time with them more frequently could really rub off on me. I’m also taking to reading some self-help books to help clear my mind of negativity- right now I’m reading ‘The Secret!’ Very inspiring but unfortunately it didn’t help me win the Powerball on Saturday. Guess I’ll have to keep practicing.
Anything else I could write here today would probably just end up on my 101 in 1001 list, so there’s no point in rattling on. I will save it for The List- and share it with you once it’s complete. As for our plans for ringing in the New Year, I am looking forward to seeing E, (he’ll be arriving later tonight) and sharing our first kiss in the year that we are to be married. So exciting! Hope you all have a happy, safe, and blessed New Year! Here’s to a fine ’09! Hope it brings you all that you’ve dreamed of!
