Our first gift! :) | The Budget Savvy Bride
The Budget Savvy Bride

We received our first gift in the mail last week and I wasn’t sure what the rules were on opening gifts before the wedding… but the box label said Pottery Barn so I just couldn’t resist! It was from my former co-worker and sorority sister, C-face, who shares some of the blame for my current wedding obsession. I got to witness her planning process when we worked together and I never knew that people put so much detail into weddings! She’s the one who turned me on to the wonderful world of wedding blogging so you could say she’s semi-responsible for this blog, haha. C-face and her hubby gave us our fruit bowl- I freakin’ love it and can’t wait to have a house with kitchen counters to set it on. :)

look at how pretty that box is? Could you honestly turn the other way and not open it?! :)

I made sure E was present to open the box- I felt guilty opening a present for both of us by myself!

Ta-Da! Our lovely Emma Fruit Bowl from Pottery Barn! I loooooove it! :)

Another box from Pottery Barn came over the weekend and when I opened it I was a little confused! The card was from two friends of ours and mentioned a cake stand… but when I opened it I realized the box contained a set of 4 doorknobs!!! Whoopsy- haha! We had to call PB customer service and they sent someone to pick up the doorknobs- we should be getting our cake stand sometime soon. :) Anyone else have any funny registry stories?

Oooh it’s gorgeous! I won’t lie, we didn’t register at PB but I wanted to specifically so I could register for that bowl and the matching cake stand. They’re so lovely!!

We got our first present in the mail yesterday as well!! I was so so so excited.. but the saddest thing is that we didn’t get a chance to open it we were so busy last night! Tonight… yay.

  1. ha! well at least they wrote something about a cake stand in the card or you might have just thought they got you doorknobs:) love the bowl!

  2. That is too funny! Our hand mixer mysteriously showed as purchased off our registry, and I got SO excited… just to realize two weeks later that it had somehow been marked as bought but not really. Oh well…

  4. oh I LOVE Pottery Barn… I’ve gotten like 2 gifts and just recently noticed that our registries have 2 more items purchased :) It’s so fun! I have my first shower in 2 weeks!

I don’t have any funny registry stories (yet)…

  5. I have the Emma pattern as well. Great choice!

I love all those little funny things about wedding planning–I had a similar story, although the doorknobs are far more random! I got a mid-November call from a Williams-Sonoma in Virginia alerting me that they had accidentally mailed 8 place settings of flatware meant for a lady in Virginia Beach, for her Thanksgiving dinner party, and sent her my 2 cookie sheets instead. I was supposed to call them back to have a FedEx man come pick up and reroute the silverware when it arrived. I would have been really surprised to open up a full set of flatware considering I didn’t register for any!

How cool, your first wedding gift. It must be so exciting…especially knowing that there are plenty more gifts to come! :-)
