Miss me?! I was so excited when the original BSB Jessica reached out to me for this guest post! Life as a newlywed has been quite busy — Matt and I left our beloved New York City only two weeks after our wedding in favor of opportunities south of the Mason Dixon line! We relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina only a few months ago, and while we will always have much love for the city that brought us together, Raleigh has been an exciting new adventure!
One of the final items to check off of the wedding to-dos (post-move) was to create our wedding album. Our photos turned our absolutely amazing, thanks to my good friend Adena at Studio A Images, and I’ve been eager to put together an album that tells the story of our memorable/fun/crazy/hot day.
Enter my new friends at Libby James. Their mission is right up my alley — helping DIY brides to create stunning, professional wedding albums. As someone who knows what she likes, but doesn’t always know how to do that herself, the Libby James site and software gave me excellent direction on creating a high-end album that reflected the personal, modern style of our wedding day.
How to Create a Wedding Album
After downloading the software, I chose a template to work from, as was recommended for a seamless experience. I’m super happy I took their advice because it made the first few steps of the design process incredibly easy for me (despite knowing my way around Photoshop and other such programs, too many options would have completely overwhelmed me!). I selected the ‘modern I’ template, then imported the photos from my computer that I’d chosen and let Libby James do the heavy lifting. Even when using the template, I was able to change up the positioning for the look that I wanted, and could edit the photos directly in the Libby James program to crop as needed just by double clicking on the image when it’s been placed on a spread.
It was incredibly hard to choose my favorite photos, so I actually used the design template to dictate some of my selections. In the instances when several of my favorites were very similar (or depicted the same event during the wedding), I spent some time swapping the images in and out on the page to determine the overall look that I liked best, and allowed me to tell a cohesive story through the photos. I also took advantage of the customizable backgrounds feature. Since our wedding was heavy on the fun, I wanted our album to showcase that while still looking classy. I loved that the backgrounds, page styles and scrapbook options were all drag and drop, so I didn’t feel like I was spending hours on a layout that I wasn’t going to end up liking when it was finished.
After I put all of the photos in place (and watched the preview of the pages about 7,000 times!) and was certain I would love what I created, I started the order process and left it in the hands of the experts at Libby James. With just a few clicks, my album traveled through cyberspace and into their capable printers and I could not wait to see the finished product!
Our Wedding Album
The Libby James turnaround time was very quick, and in less than a week (I chose the Diamond photo cover, which takes less time for process because, ahem, I could not wait!), my masterpiece arrived… Behold…
The finished project turned out better than I even hoped that it would! The album is sturdy, so I know it will last, and the photo quality is truly impressive. To be able to create this myself so easily and it look so professional on a budget is awesome! Thank you, Libby James!
