One thing you need to know about weddings (if you don’t already) is that it won’t be ‘perfect’. There’s something bound to go awry, whether big or small, but sometimes these moments are laughable and only add to the memories associated with your special day! In honor of the premiere of the upcoming film The Big Wedding, I wanted to share a funny story from my own wedding that made it extra memorable and fun!
During college and the years soon after, my (now) hubby and I liked to join our friends out for Karaoke every once and a while- it was always a fun time! One of our closest friends (and one of Eric’s groomsmen) often joined us on our karaoke adventures and he is, well… let’s just say he’s a ‘character’ if ya know what I mean. He’s not the best singer in the world but he would get SO into it- he even liked to ‘work the crowd’ at the bar by talking to them in the musical interludes in certain songs of his choosing. It was usually hilarious and we have alot of fond memories from those nights!
To our surprise, our friend Andy decided that in honor of our wedding day he would serenade us with song! He worked it out with my uncle who was playing music at the reception- he played the guitar while Andy belted out one of his favorite songs. The performance definitely made for a memorable moment of our reception when Andy sang Bob Seger’s Against the Wind in front of all our family and friends. The older folks in the crowd seemed a little confused by the display (and Andy’s raspy growl of a singing voice) which only made it more hilarious. A little crazy and definitely non-traditional – but it’s something we will always look back on and laugh about for years to come!
