The Budget Savvy Bride

Hello lovely readers!

As you can see, we’ve gotten a MAKEOVER!! How do we look, y’all? Personally, me LIKEY :) Our new look is thanks to the lovely Joy Kelley of How Joyful Design Studio– she was an absolute JOY (pun oh-so-intended) to work with and I think she did a fabulous job! She was a budget savvy bride herself so I feltĀ  she was the perfect choice to work with on this very dear project of mine! So if you’ve noticed that things around here got a little slow for a while, it’s because lots of things have been going on behind the scenes and I’ve been furiously working away trying to make some big improvements here.

It’s been kind of a while since I’ve taken the time to write a post here from me to you. I realize that, and it’s lame. To be honest, somewhere along the way I think I lost sight of my original goals with this blog and in the process I think it lost some of the heart that it once contained– MY heart! Many longtime readers know that I struggled with the direction to take this blog (see here and here) after my May 2009 wedding, and sometimes it shocks me that I’m still here running BSB after 4 YEARS next month! Holy moly, what a ride it’s been!

Over the last three years post wedding, I’ve gone through a few life changes! From navigating living with my inlaws, to buying our first home, to adopting not one but TWO of the cutest dogs to ever walk the earth, to taking on a social selling job sharing a product I truly love, to going back to work full time– life has been full of ups and downs along the way! This blog is something that has remained pretty constant for me. I have to admit that I feel like it is a part of me, part of who I AM. It’s something I built from the ground up and I love all the amazing people and opportunities it has introduced me to. Honestly, it’s one of my biggest accomplishments, and the one I’m most proud of!

All that to say that I plan to try to get back to the heart of it here. I want to share more content that will help and inspire brides as they’re planning their own weddings! One thing that will be really helpful going forward is the new updates that we’ve added to the site such as our new easy sharing tools! As you can see above when you visit an individual post you will see the avatar of the author who wrote the post, along with a short bio. (Still working on updating everyone’s pictures so thanks for your patience.) And then of course Joy made it simple to share our content on the web via Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, or StumbleUpon- easy peasy right? Speaking of Pinterest, you can follow us here! We’re pinning lots of great wedding inspiration, diy projects, color schemes, budget decor ideas and lots more useful and not-so-useful-but-really-entertaining things there. :) Check out all the great things that readers have pinned already– so fun!

I so appreciate the time that our guest bloggers have put into sharing their big days with you. Some of them have fallen off the radar at times, and that’s unfortunate. I am reaching out to them in hope that they will join us again once their newlywed lives settle down so they can share the fruits of their labor with us! In the meantime we’ve got some really fab ladies with us right now and I’m getting ready to do another call for the next group of bride bloggers so be on the lookout for that in the coming weeks.

Other than that, I’d love to hear any comments you have on the new look, ideas for future features, questions you’d like answered, etc. I really look forward to connecting more with our community going forward. In the meantime, enjoy the new site and I will update more as we add new features! Feel free to connect with us via the links below! :)
