helping brides create beautiful weddings without breaking the bank

With all of the fabulous mid-year sales happening right now, (Nordstrom, Macy’s, etc) I thought what better time to share some wedding registry items that I’m currently crushing on? Each of these items has been sent to me to test out and I have to say I’m obsessed with all three of them. They’re a little splurgy, but that’s the beauty of a wedding registry isn’t it? People can spend what they’re comfortable with, and often times groups will join together to share the cost of a big ticket item. It’s a win all around!

The main reason I love each of these items is that they will save you money in the long run. Sometimes investing in high priced items might seem like the wrong thing for your budget, but these high quality appliances will save you money over time and last longer, too. I’ll explain more about them below:

Soda Stream Source

The hubs and I have been making a concerted effort to drink less soft drinks and have recently become OBSESSED with soda water, sparkling water, etc. We were buying cases of flavored soda waters during each grocery store run, and even though we’re big on recycling, I still didn’t feel okay about all the cans and bottles we were going through. I was so thrilled to get a Soda Stream Source machine — now we can turn tap water into sparkling water or soda in under 30 seconds with nothing to clean up, and no electricity! That’s right – this baby is cordless and runs solely on the CO2 tank that’s used to carbonate your water.

We’ve been testing out different flavor drops with our sparkling water, and have even added fresh fruit to fancy it up a bit. Not only is it convenient, but it’s saving us money and protecting the environment at the same time. No heavy bottles or cans to carry, store at home or throw away. Fizz to your desired bubble intensity (the LED lights on the front let you know how much bubble you’ve added), add your favorite flavors and enjoy!

The Source is simple to clean and use and comes in a variety of colors so you can find the one that’s perfect for your kitchen decor! And occasionally when I get a craving for a Cola, I can make one on the spot – I never have to worry about running out to the store last minute. This thing seriously comes in handy for parties, too — it really gives you tons of possibilities for cocktail concoctions! I seriously can’t say enough about how much I love my SodaStream. PS- there’s an awesome $20 rebate offer on any SodaStream machine right now — so don’t miss out on that!

Dyson DC59 Motorhead

I think we all know Dyson’s reputation as the best of the best when it comes to vacuums. I’ve never owned one myself until now. Our NYC apartment is rather small, so of course we’re short on space and regular vacuums require lugging them around and moving the plug to different rooms. These are some of the reasons why I love the Dyson DC59 Motorhead – it’s CORDLESS – yes, cordless! – it has a charging / docking station included allowing you to hang it and its attachments on the wall so it won’t take up your precious floor space.

The DC59 is lightweight (less than 5lbs) and the charge lasts through 24 minutes of cleaning — more than enough to clean my entire 600 sq ft apartment in one charge! Charging it on the wall dock means it’s ready at a moments notice in case of spills – it’s super convenient. It also has a mess-free bin dump function so you won’t let loose any dirt. The Dyson DC59 also includes a free 2 year warranty, and has the same cyclone technology as Dyson full size machines — so it captures microscopic dust and has 3x the suction of any other cordless vacuum on the market.

I love that this vacuum works great on carpets or hard surfaces, and the portability means you could use it to clean your car, too! It has a trigger to blast the power on and off, which takes a bit of getting used to – but the great thing about it is that you’re never using power when you don’t want to so you can maximize your clean time. I was particularly impressed with how it removed some deep down dirt on our living room rug that had left it looking dingy- it really brightened up! Not sure which is sadder, how much I enjoyed cleaning with this awesome vacuum or how great of an arm workout I got in the process! I think I’m now a Dyson fan for life.

Keurig K45 Elite Brewer

The Elite Brewing System for Keurig is the perfect addition to your kitchen and your morning routine.  The Elite brews a perfect cup of coffee, tea, hot cocoa or iced beverage in under one minute at the touch of a button. The Elite gives you the choice of three different cup sizes and includes a removable drip tray to accommodate travel mugs so you can take your cup of joe on the go and skip the $5 lattes at Starbucks. That alone will save you money over time!

There are so many awesome Keurig compatible flavors and varieties out there, but one thing I absolutely love is using the refillable cups! They’re better for the environment (less waste) and you can put as much or as little grounds in there to achieve your desired beverage strength. I absolutely love the coconut white color of this brewer, it’s great for airy light kitchens, but it comes in other shades, too if white’s not your style.

I’ve grown quite attached to my Keurig and I use it for more than just coffee — I’ll put in an empty refillable cup and just run hot water through the machine to make instant oatmeal. Super handy! And of course in the winter I love my hot cocoa and tea as well. Once you go Keurig, you never go back.

What do you think of my favorite picks this season?

Will you be adding any of these to your wedding registry?
