I can't believe we are already this far into November, time is seriously flying by, and our wedding is slowly sneaking up on me! So my plan as soon as Adam and I were engaged was to let my bridesmaids decide on their bridesmaids dresses in a general color palette as these cute little bowls from Anthropologie (random, I know). I thought they could choose, and maybe even reuse dresses from other occasions and everything would just go so easily and well together.
Then my sister showed me these…
…then I looked at the price tag and just moved on with life…thinking they could all still pick out their own dresses and save a few hundred dollars.
Then the crazy bridesmaid-dress stars aligned and while I was swimming with dolphins in Nevis I got an e-mail from my sister-in-law saying that the shimmery dresses were on SALE…
FOR 50 DOLLARS!!
…so we bought them all.
Well, kinda. I sent an e-mail asking my maids if they liked the dresses- and they all did (or said they did at least- I hope you guys were telling the truth!). I know everyone always says this, but I really did want them to actually like them since I had told them they were going to get to pick out their dresses from the beginning.
One little hiccup was that I hadn’t had the chance to ask each of them yet. Luckily, my older sister and sister-in-law helped out a bunch and helped me order the dresses for all of my bridesmaids. It was such a huge help, especially since I was in a foreign country so it was impossible for me to call everyone to figure out their sizes, and I didn’t want to spoil the surprise! So we bought the dresses for each of the maids and figured it would all work out when we saw each other. Thanks guys!
Sorry this is such a bad picture- I didn’t have my camera at home.
I loved the dresses even more in person. They were definitely a brighter blue and a bit “blingier” than I thought they would be, but the beading looks so pretty and I think it will shimmer in the sunshine and against the ocean. It also gave us a great first color for the rest of our palette. They’re also light, easy to pack, and hopefully difficult to wrinkle, I think they will make great beachy bridesmaids dresses!
Then when we saw each other for the bachelorette party we brought the other girls’ dresses so they could try them on and it worked out wonderfully!
How did you decide on what your bridesmaids would wear?!
