Beautiful and Budget Savvy Destination Wedding

I love that more and more couples are opting for budget-savvy destination weddings. Not only do destination weddings offer couples a chance to get creative with their planning, they also naturally keep the guest list short. Maggie and George planned a beautiful and budget savvy destination wedding spending only $14K! Maggie and George do a fabulous job of keeping their wedding personal while embracing their unique venue. Enjoy today’s budget-savvy destination wedding! xoxo, Jessica

What was your budget?
Our total budget was approximately $14,000.
Food and drink: $6000
Photographer: $2800
Transportation for guests: $1200
DJ: $1000
Decorations: $1000
Save the dates/invitations/programs/seating cards/gifts for guests: $2000
How many guests did you have?
We had 50 guests, including ourselves.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
We did a destination wedding, so we created an intenirary for everyone, so they knew where, and when they needed to be, and where we would be at any given time. Since we were married in Mexico, we also had Koozies, and SPF chapstick made for all of our guests
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We didn’t have any real flowers. We were married in the Caribbean, outside, with the most beautiful backdrop. I (bride), did have a bouquet, in which was made by my best friend, and matron of honor. The bouquet was made out of silk flowers, and sea shells there were collected from Mexico, in my many years of travel there.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
RELAX!! Don’t sweat the small stuff. I promise, when your day gets here, you will not remember all of the small things you may have stressed over for the past few months. You know those table seat cards that were agonized over for weeks? No one will even remember those. Have the time of your life. It goes by so, so fast!
What was your biggest splurge?
Food and drink. Our guests came all the way to Mexico for our wedding, we wanted to make sure they had the best food, and best drinks.
What was your favorite detail?
How intimate the entire day felt. It was a small wedding, so we actually got to spend time with all of our guests.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Seeing my groom for the first time, and seeing his tears (of joy of course!). All of my nerves went out the door at that time. I couldn’t stop smiling after that
