Bridal Market 2014 Recap Megapost!!
Earlier this month, I attended Bridal Market, otherwise known as Bridal Fashion Week — to take a peek at all the new and exciting things happening in the world of weddings. This event takes place twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. The fall series is the bigger and bolder event, much like traditional New York Fashion Week!
This was my second time attending Bridal Market, so I felt a little more prepared than last time. However, I was nursing quite a bad cold and felt pretty exhausted by the end of it all! I definitely had to pull it together and power through – worst possible time of the year to be sick!! My job is SO fun and this is honestly one of the most exciting weeks of the year — I didn’t want to miss out on any of the fun!
Anyway… I decided I would do an overview of all the things I got to see so you could experience a taste of Bridal Market yourself! This is going to be quite a long post, so settle in, y’all.
My first stop of Bridal Market 2014 was David’s Bridal and let me tell you – it was a treat! Lots of exciting things are happening with this brand, including a new creative direction and logo! Stay tuned for new updates from David’s Bridal as they add new style to their offerings in the coming months.
First of all, it’s utterly incredible the number of color options they have available for bridesmaids or occasion dresses. Anything from pretty muted pastels to punchy bold hues – they are sure to have the perfect shade to compliment your day.
David’s Bridal is also expanding their collection of accessories and their new designs are stunning. Great pricepoints, too!
With designer partnerships like Melissa Sweet, David’s Bridal is really focusing on bringing things up a notch. Just look at these gorgeous gowns – covered in ornate lace and beading, but for incredible prices.
My personal favorite from my viewing was this style from their David’s Bridal collection. Only $699!
I had the opportunity to pop in on a press event for Ritani jewelry and definitely spent some time ogling their engagement ring collection. I mean… holy cow!!
A particular standout was this pink gemstone ring from one of their up and coming designer partnerships with Omi Prive! So stunning!
ETSY WEDDINGS PREVIEW
One of my favorite stops of the week was for the Etsy Weddings Preview! I was thrilled to receive this invite because I feel like our readers love supporting small businesses and independent artisans like the ones who sell on Etsy. This adorable sign was hand lettered by my super talented pal Valerie McKeehan of LilyandVal.com and greeted us as we entered the event.
Inside we were able to take a look at tons of different items for weddings created by the Etsy community. Everything from favors to wedding invitations to gift items. Everything was so creative and adorable!!
I personally LOVED the gift items including these Mr. & Mrs. Mugs and His & Hers Spoons!!
These wedding invitations are semi diy — you can get a stamp block created by a seller which you can then stamp yourself onto the paper of your choice. Pretty crafty!!
They also had some super adorable cake toppers and decor! How precious are these?
We even got to check out some of the artists there in person — La Vie Rosie was crafting flower crowns on the spot, so my fellow wedding bloggers Jen of Something Turquoise and Jessica of Storyboard Wedding and I all got in on the flower crown action. 🙂
Overall it was such a fun event, and I really enjoyed getting to see some fab Etsy pieces in person.
Next on my bridal market journey I attended the Della Giovanna show. This was more for fun, as they tend to showcase some really modern and fashion forward designs. This collection did not disappoint! Lots of bold statements and tons of GOLD. A really interesting and unique collection! Check out a few snaps below:
Claire Pettibone is another aspirational brand that I decided to check out this year. Her designs are stunning and incredibly high end, but I think it’s important to see the more luxurious side of things to be able to compare and suggest similar styles in a lower pricepoint elsewhere. This was the 20th anniversary of Claire Pettibone, and the show did not disappoint! It took place in an old cathedral in NYC and the entire place was decorated with absolutely stunning florals.
Next up, I stopped by Modern Trousseau for a private collection viewing with fellow bloggers Chelsea of Tidewater & Tulle and Carly of Carly Is Inspired. Their salon was lovely and it was really fun to get a chance to sit down and chat with the designer of the collection and hear her thoughts and process. I was floored by the beauty of the laces she chose! This experience was definitely one of my favorites of the week.
This bold lace took my breath away!! So gorgeous.
How amazing is this lace jacket? It can be removed after the ceremony to switch up the look. Truly gorgeous!!
The “Storm” dress made a bold statement with a moody grey color underneath white lace. So unique!Another favorite was this dress called Hugs & Kisses — can you see the X’s and O’s in the lace? So darling!!
Isabelle Armstrong got me right in the feels with these cute little flower girl looks to start off their show.
Was stunned by the ruffles on this number. Gorgeous!!
Also loved the subtle sequining on this gown — took my breath away in person!
WATTERS & WTOO
On Saturday I got up early to hit the Watters show and it was totally worth it. Their collection is always a hit with budget savvy brides because their price points are fab and their styles are stunning. Lots of really interesting laces, gorgeous back details and some really nice muted bridesmaids looks.
And can we talk about how gorgeous this flower wall is?? The Watters team made it themselves, and it was truly stunning in person– it was all made from paper so it wouldn’t cost much to recreate for your big day! Would make a great photobooth backdrop or altar setting. Love it!!
Seriously loved these chic muted bridesmaids look. Those flutter sleeves on the left? Obsessed.
Maggie Sottero is always a hit with BSB readers, too — they have lots of great looks in the range for a budget bride at $1500 or less. I’ll be sharing more about specific styles soon, but here’s some snaps I captured during the show:
On Monday I hit the BHLDN showroom for a brunch and viewing and it was lovely! I really loved this little brunch setup they created with adorable finger foods and small bites – such a cute display for a wedding or shower! I especially loved the mini parfaits and fresh squeezed juice shots!
I just love BHLDN’s collection of designs — they really pull together a little something different for everyone and their prices are surprisingly appropriate for budget savvy brides. Lots of gorgeous laces and some blush tones were totally swoon-worthy.
They had some really cute vignettes set up with decor items as well — how gorgeous are these mercury glass table numbers and candle holders — stacked upon an old book with the cover removed. That would be such an easy thing to upcycle!
Reception look or bachelorette party outfit? Either way I’m kind of obsessed with this romper.
Next, I popped over for a luncheon with the folks from JCPenney to unveil their new collection of rings from the Modern Bride Signature collection and celebrate the launch of their new Wedding Registry App!
JCPenney carries a wide assortment of items to help you create the perfect wedding registry– and I mean, there are JCP’s ALL over the country so it’s super convenient for you AND your guests. They have awesome sales all the time so it’s great for your guests to score a deal on your wedding gifts! Not to mention, the new Wedding Registry app makes registering with JCP easier than ever.
And then… the rings!! Seriously stunning options that really maximize the stones they include as well as provide killer value! I seriously loved this rose gold pretty — double halos are super hot right now for engagement rings because it gives you the effect of a larger center stone without costing a fortune.
One of my favorite things about the collection? Each ring has a hidden blue diamond set inside the band as part of two intertwined infinity symbols – so it totally takes care of your “Something Blue!” How amazing is that? And such a sweet symbolic secret 🙂
MARTHA STEWART WEDDINGS
Last but not least, I hit the Martha Stewart Weddings party — definitely a highlight of the week! This one was extra special, as it marked the 20th Anniversary of the party.
Martha herself with Darcy Miller and Andi Dorfman from The Bachelorette!
It was a great way to wrap up an exciting and tiring week! So that’s a wrap on Bridal Market 2014. Later this week, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite gowns I’ve found under $1500, so stay tuned!!
