Cabo Destination Weddings: <br>The Westin Resort + Spa
So excited to share this post with you all today! I had the amazing opportunity to take a press trip to visit Los Cabos, Mexico last month to tour two incredible properties that have tons to offer budget savvy brides- whether you’re planning a destination wedding or a fabulous honeymoon. I invited my talented photographer friend Mikkel Paige along to capture some stunning photos of the scenery and the resorts. If you follow me on Instagram, you likely saw me blowing up your feed with enchanting views of Cabo courtesy of my trusty iPhone- but these shots that Mikkel got will blow you away!
Today, I’ll be sharing my experience and some info about the first stop on our Cabo Destination Weddings adventure: The Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos! I thought, what a perfect day to share my Mexico recaps than Cinco de Mayo, right? 😉 Check back later today for part 2!
We arrived into Cabo around lunchtime and were transported to the resort by Transcabo – a destination management company. The folks at Transcabo were absolutely great all week – they handled all of our transportation from the airport, to various activities and between resorts and they were timely and absolutely professional. (Definitely good to know about them for arranging your guests’ travel to and from the airport!)
I knew we were in for a treat when the staff at The Westin greeted us upon arrival with refreshing margaritas complete with flags proudly displaying The BSB logo. Such a sweet touch – and something they could easily do with your wedding monogram as well – such a special way to welcome your guests to your destination wedding! Our whole experience at The Westin was wonderful – starting with the view!
Because of the genius curved facade to the guestroom building, every single room has a balcony with an ocean view. Yes, you read that right. You can stare at this gorgeous blue water and sky from any room in the resort! I spent some nice quiet time working on the balcony with my laptop staring out at the gorgeous scenery. The sunrises and sunsets were particularly magical.
THE STYLE + ATMOSPHERE
The Westin definitely has a modern Mexican flavor – the resort walls are brightly colored like the gorgeous scenery around Los Cabos. Striking pinks, greens, yellows, blues and tans give you a plethora of options for backdrops for incredible wedding photos. Can you imagine how amazing your white wedding gown will look against these bold, colorful backdrops? The resort felt playful but relaxed – just the right amount of fun and fancy to make me feel super comfortable.
Each of the 243 spacious guest rooms at The Westin have a luxurious and modern resort feel to them. From the clean lines on the decor to the picture window opening from the amazing bathtub. And let me tell you, they don’t call their beds Heavenly for nothing… I slept like a baby each and every night. The bathroom included a large tub and a huge glass enclosed shower – both with plenty of room for 2! 😉 Perfect for the wedding night or your honeymoon! The room also had a mini bar area, coffee maker, spa robes, hair dryers, built in safes, high-speed internet access, a 32-inch flatscreen tv, and a separate seating area if you want to just relax for a bit.
One of my favorite things in life (and on this trip) is food. And The Westin had amazing food, y’all. They have several different restaurants on the property to choose from, including the AAA Four Diamond Award Winning Restaurant Arrecifes – but all the restaurants were spectacular. I am pretty sure I ate my weight in guacamole and ceviche and I would recommend you doing the same. The seafood was all incredible! They also have a casual restaurant called La Cascada that serves a breakfast, lunch and dinner with a great view from under the arch of the resort. Of course you could also order room service if you want but I preferred dining al fresco at the poolside restaurant on the property. Here’s just a sampling of the amazing cuisine we sampled at The Westin:
The Westin has SO many options on their property when it comes to weddings. My personal favorite was the newly constructed terrace with gazebo (pictured below) which serves as a perfect area for both the wedding and reception! The staff at The Westin created a mock wedding setup thanks to The Main Event Cabo for us to see how amazing the space was and it totally blew me away. Can you imagine saying your vows under that gorgeous gazebo while staring out at the beautiful blue waters of Los Cabos? It’s truly breathtaking and it sounds like the most laid-back stress-free wedding ever.
I absolutely loved the setup that they did for this wedding because it was perfect for a budget savvy wedding day– since many destination weddings are typically attended by immediate family and close friends it’s easier to keep the numbers down. By having an intimate guest list, you can make your wedding feel more luxurious with your linen and decor choices. The purple and silver tablescape at this location was so gorgeous – I especially loved the ghost chairs and the fact that they kept things very simple and small with the flowers. Being budget savvy is all about priorities and I love a good mix of high and low priced elements!
The staff at The Westin can accommodate both small and large weddings or events. The weddings and events team at The Westin can help you plan your big day down to the smallest details – allowing you the ability to relax and enjoy yourself and your time in paradise. Choose from a standard wedding package or inquire with the staff to create a customized proposal just for you! Since Cabo in general gets less than 1 week of rain per calendar year, you don’t really have to worry about inclement weather for your Cabo Destination Wedding. But if needed, they have several ballrooms and meeting rooms for your convenience for pre-wedding festivities or even the reception. Their on-site chefs and staff of caterers can serve up a variety of amazing foods for dinner – whether you’re interested in a seated dinner featuring lobster and lamb or heavy hors d’ oeuvres – they can create a special menu that perfectly fits your day. They were especially accommodating when it came to dietary restrictions or allergies – something that was much appreciated by one of our fellow travelers who is allergic to gluten! We were treated to a little bit of everything during our stay and let me tell you – it was all phenomenal. The Westin really has everything you need to create the perfect wedding day.
The property features some great amenities for honeymooners to enjoy such as the adults-only pool with swim up bar. Enjoy a drink and the view out into the ocean while relaxing with your new spouse- sounds heavenly doesn’t it? There are three different pools, all with lovely views of the ocean. Lounge poolside or by the beach, dine together in one of the amazing restaurants on the property, get sweaty together in the resort’s fully stocked gym, or treat yourselves to spa treatments in the fabulous resort spa.
It’s hard not to feel all lovey-dovey and romantic while looking at the stars from your table for two at Arrecifes, strolling hand in hand down the sandy beach, enjoying a couples massage at the beach, or cuddling up in a cabana at the newly constructed Plaza Cortes. This place screams relaxation and romance. Or whispers it in a really sexy voice, anyway.
OFF SITE ACTIVITIES
The lovely folks at Transcabo shuttled us over to a local marina where we got to enjoy a sailing trip with Cabo Adventures. We sailed out of the harbor at Cabo San Lucas for a fun and relaxing cruise with drinks, lunch and some of the most amazing views we experienced on our trip. We enjoyed the tasty meal while we stared out at the deep blue waters of the Sea of Cortés with a perfect view of Cabo’s iconic Land’s End arch which was swarming with adorable Sea Lions. It was honestly one of my favorite things we did – definitely a fun way to spend an afternoon with your new spouse or take a group out as a part of pre-wedding festivities. I really enjoyed this little trip!
Feeling adventurous? Take a taxi service into Cabo San Lucas to do a little market shopping or just experience the local flavors of Mexico. It’s a quick 10-20 minute ride into town and you can immerse yourself in the local culture, check out some amazing shops or dine at some local restaurants. The Westin is really convenient to other more boisterous areas of town while still maintaining the quiet and secluded feel of the resort.

Overall, our experience at The Westin was incredibly memorable, as well as relaxing. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and only wish my husband could’ve joined me. I’ll definitely be considering it as an option for our next big vacation destination.
