helping brides create beautiful weddings without breaking the bank

So… I have to be honest with you my blog-friends… I really just don't have a whole lot to say on the wedding front at this particular moment. I haven't made any recent decisions, there have been no new developments. As far as all things concerning my wedding I'm still feeling a little burnt out. Maybe it's because my whole life revolves around weddings. I mean, you think just planning your own wedding is overwhelming… just imagine having hundreds or thousands of beautiful images from amazing weddings shoved in your face all day while at work… and then having to come home and think about your own wedding- it's enough to drive me batty I tell ya!!

I've been trying to avoid wedding p*rn as much as possible since I'm a terribly indecisive person and being given so many wonderful options makes my head spin. Not to mention I love to start things but never finish them and I don't want to go into debt over never-finished DIY projects that were inspired from one of the 250 blogs I read… ugh. Until I get our e-pics back I feel like I have nothing to write about… sad, isn't it? I'm looking forward to making our Save The Dates… but guess what?? I don't even have a final guest list. *Ahem*… MOM. Not to mention we haven't begun to compile addresses yet either. EEK. I'm worthless.

I'm basically freaking out about the money thing. I don't know about you, but the economy is definitely taking a toll on my wedding plans. I sat down and tried to figure it out, but I honestly have no idea how E & I are going to be able to come up with the money to make this wedding happen. He doesn't seem as worried as I do, but I definitely don't want to put ourselves in more debt over this wedding. We've already both got student loans to worry about- are any of you feeling this financial crunch like me? I'm I'm über stressin' right now. Most likely cuts will have to be made and we really need to figure out where…

On to brighter subjects… This weekend I took some photos of my friend B and her fiancé T on campus at UT. They wanted some campus e-pics where they met- we had alot of fun playing around. I got a digital SLR back in June and I've been dying to get the chance to practice with it. I had a really good time and got so excited that I spent hours on the computer yesterday editing and photo shopping the ones we liked best. I can't figure out how to send the pics to WordPress directly from Flickr, so if you want to see them you can click here. B & I have known each other since 7th grade. She is one of my bridesmaids and I am also one of her bridesmaids. (Her wedding is 3 weeks after mine.) In high school people used to mix us up all the time or always thought we were sisters. Personally, I don't think we look that much alike- we just have similar characteristics. (i.e.- brown hair, brown eyes, short, etc.) Aren't she and T just adorable?

Speaking of WordPress, I've been having so many problems lately… I'd really like to switch up my template a bit but unfortunately don't know enough to really do so. I just want a clean, 3 column layout with the option for a custom header. Is that so much to ask? Ugh…

Okay I'm done whining for the day… (maybe.) Congrats to the oh-so-fab Molly who got married this weekend! Can't wait to hear all about it. Hope everyone has a great week! 🙂

  • How you’re feeling is perfectly understandable, and it’s fine… You don’t have to come up with stuff all the time, no one can keep it up like that! 🙂

And yes, I’m feeling a little stressed and weird about the economy right now… When my son wakes up at night (this morning at 4:30 for instance… 🙁 ) I have a hard time going back to sleep, I have all these stressful thoughts jumping on me, about how it’s going to go, and how we’re going to pull it off even with a simple, inexpensive wedding, and what we should/could do to make it better, but never get around to… Argh!

  • Mrs. B.

Wow, she looks SOOOO different! I don’t think I would have even recognized her. And she’s tiny!

  • I’m right there with you, girl… both on the wedding front and the economy fears. I’ve been having trouble sleeping. It’s like my brain just won’t shut down. I was so gung-ho about everything, and now, I’m trying to stop brainstorming for a while in fear that I’ll commit to too many projects and too many $$.

I totally agree…I haven’t accomplished anything wedding related in weeks…maybe even months. I look at all the pretty pictures on the blogs and I get excited, and then I feel deflated when I realize that it does not fit in my teeny-tiny budget. But when I stop and realize it is just one day….
Anyways hang in there, I just got e-pics back and that kind of helped cure my wedding-planning blues!! Hope yours do too!

  • The Pissed Off Bride

I so know the feeling. Somethimes I just want to scream. No one but another bride would understand how easy it is to feel wedding burn out.

The best thing you can do is stay away from the computer for at least a good day or two. Plan your post if you don’t already and take a mini break.

For me, once I hit the computer it is soooo hard to not look up wedding stuff. Then I look up and like an hour or two has passed. Then I’m pissed because I wasted yet another afternoon doing nothing instead of relaxing!

We are planning a destination wedding in St. Simons Island, GA and the guilt of asking friends and family to travel is getting to me. We have already paid our non-refundable deposits, though.

  • A positive note – i LOVE your epics of your friends!

I just got engaged last Thursday and am trying to find a photog (Louisville KY) to take epics before we go to back home (VA) for Thanksgiving for our engagement party with our families. Your shots are amazing – I really love the ones in the leaves. So pretty!

  • Ugh — I hear ya.

I spend a lot of time at work researching vendors, reading blogs, etc., and would like to leave it all behind me when I get home. That’s nearly impossible, considering I have to relay it all to the fiance, and then it sits on my mind all night.

In terms of money, I’m with ya. Every pay day, instead of being exciting, just reminds me of how much money we’re putting into this day (and we’re on a modest budget!). 🙁
