What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
We wanted our wedding to feel classic while incorporating the outdoors and a slight bit of boho feel. Mark & I both worked together to choose all vendors & details – from Mark’s groomsmen funky socks (Mark always wears patterned socks) to the ice cream bar (ice cream is my favorite dessert) to special songs requested to the DJ — we wanted our wedding to incorporate details that felt like us.
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
I’m not a DIY Crafty type of person. Our venue included lots of decor which was a big plus because that meant I didn’t have to create, organize, or transfer our decor to and from the venue. I didn’t want the added stress of that.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
Overall, I feel we saved money on food and smaller bridesmaid bouquets and reusing all bouquets for reception centerpieces.
What was your biggest splurge?
Photography and the venue were our biggest splurges.
What was your favorite detail?
Probably my flower crown and bouquet!
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
When your wedding is over, the photos & video are what you have left to help you preserve your memories. Prioritize those items. Other than that – make decisions that make you and your future spouse happy in relation to wedding choices, and don’t let anything on the wedding day stress you out – keep perspective, it doesn’t matter if things go according to plan that day — you are marrying your love and you are surrounded by your favorite people on the earth — no matter what the day will be beautiful!
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Photos with Mark! I loved our time together taking pictures. I also loved my dance with my dad, speeches, dancing while getting ready with my bridesmaids, and when the local pig sneezed on us — just a few of my favorite memories!
