Monet Inspired Wedding
Today’s couple looked to the famous impressionist artist Claude Monet for inspiration for their big day, and the results are stunning! I love the pink and purple floral hanging from the arbor Sophia and Daniel married under. And how gorgeous is Sophia’s bouquet?! I love all of the pastel colors she incorporated into the arrangement! Enjoy this Monet inspired wedding! xoxo, Jessica

What was your budget?
Our budget was $20,000
Make up $100
Dance lessons $500
Men’s attire $200
Day of Planner $500
How many guests did you have?
We had 100 guests.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
Our wedding was inspired by Impressionist art, specifically Monet. We wanted our wedding to look like something Monet would paint so we had flowers everywhere.
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
My garter was handmade, my shoes were hand painted by a talented friend, and my mother did alterations to my dress (adding sleeves and crystals).
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We started meeting with vendors early, shopped around a lot, and met with 3 or 4 of each vendor before signing any contracts. We were engaged for so long that we were able to wait for things we needed to go on sale. We opted for a Sunday brunch wedding which saved us money on both the venue and the catering. Our families were also incredibly helpful when the bills came in.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Give yourself time. The less time you have to plan your wedding the more pressured you might be into going with a more expensive vendor. Some other advice I’d give:
- Start saving early.
- Buy alcohol from places that let you return unopened bottles.
- Think outside of the box. When you have fun planning your wedding, your guests will have fun there with you.
What was your biggest splurge?
Flowers! Because of the Monet theme, flowers were very important. We found a florist that was reasonably priced and we loaded up on everything we could afford.
What was your favorite detail?
Our favorite detail was how we included our families in the ceremony.
His brother officiated, my brother played a song as I walked down the aisle, my cousins were the flower girl/ring bearer, and one of our dogs was a bridesmaid.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Our most memorable moment is our first dance. We worked hard with an instructor to put a routine together and it showed. We did an impressive foxtrot to You Got a Friend in Me by Randy Newman. It was fun, meaningful, and our guests loved it.
