Hi I’m Lydia and I am thrilled to share with y’all here on the Budget Savvy Bride! Brady and I have been together for almost a year and a half; we got engaged a little over a month and a half ago, and we are in the process of planning our wedding for May of 2015! We go to the same university, and met because we were orientation leaders together for my school’s New Student Orientation. Brady proposed at the end of October, and in the midst of beginning to plan our wedding, working, and finishing up a semester of school has made the last month go by at breakneck speeds. Brady will be studying abroad from mid-January till around the middle of April in the great city of London, so that will present it’s own set of challenges to overcome in planning.
My family is from the Dallas area, his is from Houston, and we came to the decision to get married here in Abilene, Texas because this is where our friends are and where we will begin the next part of our life together. Our wedding budget is around $12,500 and we are extremely fortunate to have very supportive (and excited!!) parents working with us to make this day special! There will be lots of DIY action in that I plan to craft some centerpieces and do my own flowers, Brady’s step-mom has graciously offered to make our cake, a friend is helping design our invitations, and probably much more!
Brady and I love breakfast so we will be having a morning wedding with a brunch reception, and I have never been to a morning wedding so I’m interested in any advice y’all may have for that! The colors that we plan to fill our wedding with are lots of different shades of green and white, and we want the big day to be laid back and fun while still maintaining some of the traditions that make weddings so special.
I am so excited to engage with all of you and learn together as we get ready for this special day!
