What was your wedding budget?
Initially the budget was $12,000 and we managed to keep it around the area only because our parents had gifted us with a few thousand each to help pay for the wedding. Otherwise we would have paid around $18,000 on our own.
Dress: 1,300
Tuxedos: 300
Bridesmaid dress: 160
Rings: 2,000
Flowers: 300
Venue: 3,500
Caterers: 3,000
Photography: 3,200
Videography: 2,800
Decorations: 1,000
Etc: 2,000
How many guests did you have?
We had 150 guests.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
The forehead band that I wore was made for me by my husband. And although the wedding took place in a garden, we went with a beach theme because that is what’s closest to our hearts. Also many of the details were hand put together by the bride and groom including the favors.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
Honestly we saved a lot of money by inviting only 150 guests. Also, because we chose an outside venue, we saved a lot on decorating and cost of flowers, etc.
What was the biggest sacrifice you made to stay on budget?
I would have to say there didn’t have to be a sacrifice because everything was exactly as we wanted and on our budget.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
The best advice I have now that I’m on the other side is to ENJOY EVERY MOMENT!!! Planning and preparing for a wedding can be very stressful but also a lot of fun. The big day can pass by very quickly between the getting ready, saying your vows and cutting the cake to photo sessions with friends and family, but it is very important to indulge in every moment and enjoy it because that is what will leave an impression forever.
Also, LISTS, LISTS, LISTS…there is always something bound to go wrong on the big day but by creating lists throughout the planning minimizes that risk.
What was your biggest splurge?
Definitely the biggest splurge was photography and videography, but it was well worth the money because the memories have been captured to last a lifetime.
What was your favorite detail?
It is very hard to choose my favorite detail but if I had to choose one I would have to say the wedding cake! It was beyond any of my expectations and fit the theme of the wedding to a tee!
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
The most memorable moment of the day hands down was when we exchanged our vows. The moment was purely magical and there were so many emotions, we will never forget it.
