Today we’re featuring a lovely church wedding from Oklahoma! I love the gray, navy and light blue color scheme Misti and Brandon chose for their big day. And how fun is their movie-themed reception? I love their candy table, popcorn maker, and movie poster decor! Make sure you check out their wedding cake too… you would never guess they purchased it at Wal-Mart and decorated it with dollar store flowers? Happy Friday! xoxo, Jessica

Newcastle, OK | First Baptist Church Newcastle & Yellow Rose Dinner Theater
What was your budget?
We roughly spent $6700.
Here are some of the big ticket items:
Wedding cake: $140
Groom’s cake: $300
Flower (centerpieces/bouquets): $350
Bistro tables/tablecloth rentals: $165
How many guests did you have?
We had about 300 guests.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
We tried to make the entire night one of fun and celebration, but also one that really focused on our love for each other and our families. There was a good deal of comedy and laughter. The groom and groomsmen moonwalked into the ceremony to Michael Jackson. The ceremony included a dramatic reading from Sweet Home Alabama from a good friend of ours. It also included a beautiful song by two of our very talented friends. Our moms lit the unity candle together as well.
We incorporated our love of movies at the reception. We had popcorn and treats for our food. We also hung movie posters. Brandon photoshopped our faces onto the posters and some posters just included movie quotes.
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
Lots! 🙂 My maid-of-honor and I made the bouquets and centerpieces from flowers found at Basket Market and glassware from the Dollar Tree.
I hand stamped our initials onto all of the popcorn bags at the reception.
Brandon photoshopped our faces into iconic movie posters and pulled great love quotes from the movies and made them into movie posters.
A good friend of our arranged the flowers on our wedding cake. They were purchased at the Dollar Tree.
My mom and several other helping hands helped put together our photo backdrop. A navy sheet from Wal-Mart was the main backdrop, and my maid of honor and I made paper stars and used them as the decor of the backdrop.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We didn’t cater a meal for 300 people.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Enjoy the planning and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Girlfriends and moms typically really do want to help. And fiancés are game to help too 🙂 Enjoy the time and togetherness.
What was your biggest splurge?
Photography! It was one of the most important things to me. Our budget wasn’t huge, but I really wanted beautiful images that captured the day for us.
What was your favorite detail?
Probably the movie posters!
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
It would be our vows, closely followed by the toasts at the reception.
