Tiffany + Jason

November 8, 2014

Marietta, Georgia | Stonebridge Church + Brickyard Marietta

What was your budget?

My Total Budget was $15,000.

Venues (ceremony and reception): $3,575

Caterer: $5,000

DJ: $550

Cake: $350.00

Florist: $400

Things start adding up quickly. I made a goal of $10,000, but had an extra $5,000 set aside I liked to call my stress money. If something went a little over, or I forgot about a certain vendor or detail I still needed, I had that small buffer to catch myself, which came in handy.

How many guests did you have?

We invited 125, and only had 100 attendees.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

Jason and I love the fall, so we just used the fall throughout our wedding theme. We had pumpkins for our table numbers. We even made our own cake toppers with mini pumpkins!

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

We are very blessed to have great family and friends! Everyone pitched in to help. Friends helped with hair and make up, my sister made the table arrangements, my brother-in-laws delivered the centerpieces, while other dear friends set up the ceremony décor and reception rooms! Also, I am a professional photographer, I do a lot of second-shooting for Mike Moreland, Moreland Photography. So one of the biggest savings was the wedding photography. Thirdly, I designed and printed all my own invitations, ceremony programs, and escort cards.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

My now-husband gave me the best advice during the planning process, and it’s something I wish everyone would take into consideration. “It’s just going to get thrown away.” That was the phrase that always brought me back to earth when I would get swept up in the planning process and the stress of trying to please others. It always helped remind me that at the end of the day I’ll be married to my best friend, the man of my dreams and everything else will just get thrown away.

What was your biggest splurge?

Our biggest splurge was the gifts we gave to the wedding party, parents, and a few others that helped with the wedding. Jason and I made wine. We went to the Wine Workshop & Brew Center in Decatur, took a private class, and made bottles of a Gewurztraminer. It was really wonderful to be able to share something Jason and I had made together with the family and friends that support us and helped us plan our wedding.

What was your favorite detail?

My favorite detail (and my husband’s too) was our pumpkin cake toppers. I just love the little tiara and top hat! We went to a local church to buy pumpkins for Halloween and ended up leaving with a bunch of pumpkins for centerpieces/table numbers!

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

There was a moment, right before we left, everyone was lined up outside for our bubble exit. And the DJ played Michael Buble’s Everything. No one else was in the reception hall, Jason and I danced, and it was a beautiful way to end the evening. We had celebrated all night with everyone, but at the end of the day, our day, we were together, and we were about to embark on life together. It was truly a quick moment, but one of my favorites from the entire day.
