How did you meet?

We met when we were in high school at our church’s youth group. We were just good friends for a couple of years, but then our friendship grew into something more!

What is your proposal story?

Adam planned a day for us to spend together. We went to my favorite restaurant for lunch and then we drove down the Natchez Trace. He took me to a bridge along a nature path and he knelt down and proposed! We then went out to the same restaurant from our first date 3 years earlier.

Tell us about your wedding vision.

I wanted my wedding to be simple but elegant. I chose soft colors like steel blue, gray, and blush pink. I wanted a lot of greenery for decoration. I chose my venue because I loved the brick, the dark wood, and the chandeliers.

Tell us about your attire choices.

We chose long blue dresses for the bridesmaids and gray suits for the groomsmen. My wedding dress was a simple, timeless dress that I felt fit my personality.

What was most important to you two? Was there anything you chose to splurge on or skip?

Flowers, photography, and good food were really important to me. I chose to splurge on those items. I tried to save some money when it came to stationary products and decorations.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

I love our first look. I remember being so nervous to see Adam for the first time on our wedding day, but as soon as I saw him all my nerves went away and I was just so happy. I also loved getting to be surrounded by so many of my loved ones. It was truly the most special day!

Tell us about your wedding flowers.

I wanted a lot of greenery on the tables and the aisle. My bouquet was mostly white roses and greenery and the bridesmaids’ bouquets had white flowers with blush flowers thrown in there for a pop of color.

Tell us about your wedding cake.

We had a semi-naked vanilla cake. I wanted it to be simple and decorated with beautiful flowers. I was so thrilled with how it turned out!

What did you do for favors?

We chose to not do favors so that we could put that money towards something that was more important to us.

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

My grandfather handmade the arch that we stood under at the alter. My sister and I stained it, and we ordered material to drape the arch. I was really happy with how it turned out! We also created our own programs as well.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Do not get too overwhelmed with all the details. Try to plan ahead the best that you can, and enjoy the process because it only happens once in your life.
