How did you meet?

Matt and I met online, when we finally met in person it was an instant connection.

What is your proposal story?

Matt asked me to marry him on Valentine’s day in Paris. After a day of exploring we went back to the hotel and were getting settled in, he told me to come look at what he found.  When I came into the room he was on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).

Because we got engaged in Paris and he is French, I really wanted to bring that to our wedding, I loved the idea of blush and navy blue and it fit into the style of a sleek wedding. I always wanted an outdoor wedding so when we found Stoneleigh it was perfect with the barn and courtyard.

Tell us about your attire choices.

The boys had navy blue tuxes and the girls had blush dresses to fit the color choices. Matt found the tuxes on theblacktux.com and I found the ladies dresses at David’s Bridal, we tried to keep it as cost friendly as possible. My dress was the 3rd I tried on, my mom made me try it on [I didn’t like the off-white color] but I fell in love!  Goes to show you don’t judge it before you try it on.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

We looked mostly into the food at the venue, because that’s what most people remember. I honestly wouldn’t change anything about the wedding or the planning. Almost everything went off without a hitch.

What were your favorite parts of the day? (memories and stories)

During our vows [we wrote our own] we both mentioned similar things which goes to show how similar we are. All in all, it was the perfect night.

Tell us about your wedding flowers.

We got our flowers from the local Wegmans.  I told them what type of flower colors and styles I wanted and they made it perfectly and for an incredible price. We had mostly blush and white flowers with a navy ribbon for the girls, and my flowers where all white with a blush ribbon.

Tell us about your wedding cake.

We got our cake from Edible Incredible in Reston town center. Like the food, the cake was very important to us.  On the cake were two silhouettes and the sky line of Paris, fitting our theme.

What did you do for favors?

The night before my bridesmaids and I stuffed boxes we put together with chocolate, and starburst, our favorite candy.

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

I actually did a lot of DIY for the wedding. I used to work at a restaurant where we would go though wine bottles so I got them for the centerpieces. I used spray paint to frost them, black paint to write on them and put lights on the inside. We also had plastic wine glasses which I frosted and put gel balls in with a tea light. Lastly, for the centerpieces I made the table names with a mini easel and canvas painted either navy or blush. We both have grandparents we wish could have been there but have passed so we put their photos in frames on the first 4 seats in the first rows which was a nice personal touch for us.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Keep being organized and using things like wedding wire, it saved me. It can seem over whelming and crazy but step back and take a breath because it will all work out.

What was the total budget for your wedding?  How many guests attended your wedding?

We had about 130 people at the wedding. I wanted to keep a budget of no more than 15,000 and most of that was used on the venue. I was good at finding the best prices on things I needed for the wedding, but doing things myself helped a lot too. In total, I think our wedding came out to somewhere around 13,000.
