Speedy Save the Date; From Photo to Finish

BAM! You’re engaged. The word is out and now everyone wants to know: “When’s the big day?”
Time to make your Save the Dates and–if you give yourself three months to plan–you darn well better get them out quick!

Due to the nature of our private engagement, many distant family members and friends hadn’t seen us together yet. I wanted people to give people a good quality photo for fridge flare. I mean, doesn’t everyone want that for themselves? Knowing we had to get the word out fast, Addison and I worked together to create our save the date and relied on Wedding Paper Divas to streamline the process.

It just so happens that Addison is the best photographer I know, and the camera he uses for work (Sony A7) is one of the best out there. He could put the camera on the proper settings and hand it to a monkey to get some really interesting shots of bananas–if he wanted to. We didn’t have a monkey in this case, so we used a tripod and Addison’s little sister, Ellie.

We went to his parent’s home in East Texas where the landscape is beautiful, even in the dead of winter. Then, in the golden hour, we hiked out to the fields and set up in a few different spots to get some variety. Addison and I posed, Ellie click-click-clicked away and in about thirty minutes we had over 500 photos to work with. Several of which, I might add, were hilarious.

He caught me!

From our selection we chose the photo we wanted, decided to go with a color print and headed to weddingpaperdivas.com to design our save the date.

We had a very clear vision in mind for this: a simple postcard, with very little text and the address to our website for registry information. Quickly, we found the perfect template and, after playing around with the layout and color scheme, we had what we were looking for.

Look how mature we appear to be!

In review, there were many benefits to using WeddingPaperDivas.com to create our save the dates, rather than printing them on our own at the office. Their customer service is great; when I had a question about the final layout I was able to instant chat with a representative and got my answer immediately! Not only was the print quality great and the delivery super speedy, but they were having a special on save the dates that weekend which basically paid for my expedited shipment. WINNING!

Now everybody we love has a charming little postcard on their fridge, and that’s just the way it should be!
