How many guests did you have?
We had about 50 people attend our wedding.
How did you meet?
We met during the fall of 2012 at a high school volleyball game. I was unable to play due to an injury and I met the love of my life at the score table during the match. He is super shy so I did most of the talking but somehow I knew at that moment he would be in my life forever.
What is your proposal story?
My fiancé brought Disney to me! Me being the Disney fanatic that I am he wanted to do something magical. Doing it at Disney was too predictable for him so instead, he brought all the Disney magic to me! In my hometown in a beautiful park, I walked up to life-size cutouts of my favorite Disney princesses with all my favorite people there to share in the joy! Each stop, one princess to the next, I prayed with family members to bless the marriage, and to finally getting to my real life Prince Charming!
Tell us about your wedding vision.
A day full of joy and laughter surrounded by family. Location was easy! Due to my grandfather having cancer and not being able to travel we wanted him to be a part of our big day. Having our wedding up in the mountains where he lived so he could attend was breathtaking and we wouldn’t have had it anywhere else. Colors and style were warm and happy.
Tell us about your attire choices.
For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted a simple rustic wedding and I’ve always been drawn to darker berry colors and sunflower yellow. I knew I wanted a berry color for the bridesmaids and the simpleness of the groom and grooms men’s vests blended in nicely with the gorgeous mountains behind us. When it came to my dress I fell in love with the lace sleeves and buttons down the back. The dress I chose had the perfect balance of country chic and just enough sparkle to make me feel like a princess on my special day.
What was most important to you two? Was there anything you chose to splurge on or skip?
The most important thing to us as a couple was for everyone to enjoy their time and for us all to be able to enjoy having all the family together while celebrating love. I would say we splurged on pictures. We spent extra for two photographers to capture all the best moments.
They are memories you will always want to cherish.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
His favorite part of the day was having our families together and everyone having a good time. Also the cake! In his words, “ there is nothing like saying I do and then being able to shove cake in the face of the one you just married.”
My favorite part would have to be our first dance. Being one that doesn’t dance it was such a special moment being able to just stop all the crazy that comes with a wedding day and take in a moment with my husband.
Tell us about your flowers.
Flowers were done by my uncle. He is an interior designer and offered to do them for us! So I would say that is DIY. Sunflowers, red roses, and baby’s breath.
Tell us about your wedding cake.
The cake was done by Publix. Chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream filling.
What did you do for favors?
We did not do favors since it was just family.
Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?
When I was 16 my great grandmother passed away and with how close we were I wanted something of hers with me. I wore a gorgeous diamond bracelet that used to belong to her and a piece of lace from her wedding dress was wrapped around my bouquet. To finalize my bouquet I had a broach of hers on the front on top of the lace.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
DO NOT STRESS! It will all come together. I promise! Enjoy the experience and take a step back to really take in all the little details. Take snapshots in your head for memories that you will be talking about for a lifetime!
