Setting the wedding budget is often a challenge for couples, especially if there are multiple contributors to the funds. Determining how much you can afford to spend requires a bit of math as well as honesty about your overall financial limitations. Some couples find that sticking to the budget they’ve set throughout the planning process can be a major challenge. Many brides shared that “keeping costs down while still having a nice celebration” was a struggle.

2. Guest List

Deciding who to invite and who to leave off the guest list can be a source of stress and conflict, especially if family members or friends have different expectations about who should be invited. It’s important to keep in mind that it’s your wedding, and you should feel free to invite only those whom you want.

3. Balancing expectations

Dealing with the expectations and opinions of family members and friends, as well as your own desires, can be a challenge. Striking a balance between what you want and what others want can be difficult, especially if there are conflicting views. One bride shared that “being respectful of our families’ traditions while planning an event that aligns with our values has been difficult to balance.”

4. Venue Selection

Choosing the right venue is essential for a successful wedding, so make sure to thoroughly research wedding venues available in your area before making a decision. It’s best to visit the venue yourself and make sure it suits all your needs, such as the size of the space, availability of catering services, and other amenities. “Finding a venue that meets our needs within our budget has been difficult,” said one bride.

Choosing the right vendors, such as caterers, florists, and photographers, can be time-consuming and overwhelming, as there are often many options to consider. You should also read reviews from past clients and ask for recommendations to make sure you’re getting the best services available.

6. Managing logistics

Coordinating all the different elements of the wedding, from transportation and accommodations to the ceremony and reception, can be a logistical nightmare. Hiring a wedding planner to help you manage all the details so your special day goes off without a hitch is a great way to relieve yourself of that burden.

7. Dealing with Stress

Dealing with stress is an unavoidable part of wedding planning, but it’s important to take breaks when needed and find ways to stay calm throughout the process. Spend some time alone or with loved ones, have regular date nights, or take up a new hobby to help you relax and stay focused. Physical health impacts mental health, so make sure to practice regular self-care, from getting good sleep to moving your body.
