As you know, I recently attended Bridal Market here in NYC and I was thrust into a sea of sequins, beading, tulle and lace. It’s hard to not get totally overwhelmed by the pretty, especially when you’re a bride on a budget. The ads you see in most of the bridal magazines feature wedding dresses that cost half or nearly all of the price of our readers’ total wedding budget, and that can be really disheartening for a girl with limited funds.
So one thing I try to do here at BSB is to only share gowns that fall within our readers’ price range based on our annual readers surveys. BSB readers have an average budget of $1500 or less for their wedding gowns, so that’s been a really great way for me to narrow down the options into only the most gorgeous and affordable options to keep you from getting designer wedding dress FOMO. I was super surprised (and honestly thrilled) to learn about many brands that were new to me who offered beautiful wedding dresses at prices our budget savvy readers are sure to love.
But let’s be honest, looking at the fancy high-end designer dresses CAN be pretty inspiring. So something I thought could be interesting was looking at a stunning designer gown and then finding a budget savvy lookalike version for all the style maven brides out there on a budget! What do you think?
I’m not sure how often these connections will be made or found, but today I wanted to share one I stumbled upon during bridal market:
Jenny Packham Lilya – $4720.00
This gorgeous couture gown comes in close to five thousand dollars… that’s like the entire budget of some of the real weddings we’ve featured here on BSB! (Insert shocked emoji face here.)
But fear not, we found a fabulous lookalike at Bridal Market! It’s not an exact match but a very similar style and feeling if this is what you’re going for on your big day:
Imagine my surprise when I was walking the floor at The Knot Couture Show when my eyes caught sight of this lookalike! Allow me to introduce you to this beauty from Jasmine Bridal! The straps are a little more halter style than the Jenny Packham version but it gives the same feeling as the pricier version and at a fraction of the cost!
This style comes in white or ivory, with ivory, white or gold accents. Comes in sizes 00 – 34! And the MSRP is around $1500. If you’re into this style of dress for your big day, call your local bridal shops to see if they carry Jasmine Bridal to score this look for less!
Hope you’ve enjoyed this fun little suggestion! Would you like to see us share more wedding dress looks for less?
