helping brides create beautiful weddings without breaking the bank

Happy Wednesday, loves! Hope you're having a great week so far! I wanted to take a little time out today to have some real talk with y'all. BSB has been around for 4 years now and I am feeling more committed than ever to make this site the best it can be! I've been attending workshops and conferences like crazy this year– I've been devouring business books, listening to podcasts, and doing so much to invest in myself and this blog!

One of the exercises that has stood out to me the most over the last several months is one we did at AH Inspired where we were asked to define our ideal client. Obviously as a blogger, I don't work with clients, but I thought it was still applicable to think about who our readers are. What makes a budget savvy bride reader tick? What is she looking for? What are her priorities? Who is she? Defining a profile of our readers (YOU!!) was such a fun exercise for me.

I know that budget savvy bride readers are smart with your money, you want the most bang for your buck. You do not want to be wasteful with your money or resources. You take PRIDE in finding great deals and sharing them with others. You don't see the point in spending money on something if you know you can make it yourself. No matter your budget, you try to accomplish more for less- you know that it's not about how much you spend but how you spend it! You want your wedding day to be a reflection of you and you put your heart into carefully crafting the details as creatively and frugally as possible. You have your priorities in order and you know in the end that your lifetime of marriage is more important than your wedding day.(a la Southern Weddings Sweet Tea Society– LOVE IT!)

So I took the time to create this little graphic… consider it a motto… a manifesto…what have you. If you believe in being a budget savvy bride, I'd love for you to pin this image to one of your Pinterest boards. Weddings don't have to rob us of our life's savings! We can wed beautifully for less if we put forth the effort! πŸ™‚

I truly hope that this blog is a valuable resource to you while you are planning your wedding. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments, suggestions for BSB! I have been working on some site updates over the last few weeks and months (thanks to the awesome Taylor McRae for all his technical help and skills!) One of the major updates we've made is creating a clickable map to view our real budget wedding features! I actually coded this map all by myself (proud moment, over here!) so I hope you enjoy it! Soon we'll be making some updates to the way our wedding features and DIY projects are shared, so stay tuned for those updates!

In addition to our bride bloggers we'll also be introducing some new guest bloggers to share DIY projects with all of you, including the lovely Elizabeth from Stockroom Vintage! (You might remember we featured her darling wedding here!) I really do LOVE hearing from our readers so if there's something we're missing or you wish we would cover here on BSB, again please feel free to reach out to me and share your suggestions! I am excited to share these new updates with you and offer you more budget wedding inspiration, ideas and tips! As always, thanks for reading BSB!

I’m loving most of the the new changes! Especially being able to see weddings by state – what a good idea!

I do have one little issue though…the read more at the bottom drives me crazy! I don’t have time to read every day, and so when I want to read several posts at a time it’s so annoying to open each post in a new tab instead of just being able to scroll down the page πŸ™ I know it makes the website less cluttered, but that’s my two cents πŸ™‚

Keep up the good work! πŸ™‚

    • Thanks for the feedback, Lydia!! I understand that it’s a pain in the rear to click to each individual post. Have you considered subscribing via email or Google reader? Our posts are always published in full via RSS if you’re looking to browse in a solid stream!

We obviously just changed it to the ‘read more’ option, so we’re testing it out but may revert back if we feel like it isn’t working out. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚
