When co-anchor Robin Roberts asked the bride, René Hurtado, if she had any planning tips for her own upcoming wedding this year, she shared this advice:

“Just pick your favorite concert, and go to it!”

Having a spontaneous wedding at a concert is a great way to plan a wedding on a budget!

Deciding to Get Married at a Taylor Swift Concert

The bride said in other TikTok videos on her page that she and her now husband wanted to get married before their big wedding celebration to get name changes, passport updates, and other logistics out of the way before their wedding and subsequent honeymoon.

The Eras Tour date they chose to attend fell a full year before their traditional wedding date, but that didn’t deter Rene.

The Groom’s Reaction to His Bride’s Request to Get Married at a Taylor Swift Concert

As a self-proclaimed “hardcore Swiftie,” Rene made her case to Max for getting married at Taylor’s concert. As an introvert, the groom nearly got a case of cold feet at the thought of having so much attention on them, but eventually came around in order to make his bride’s dreams come true.

Though they still plan to have a wedding celebration with family and friends at a later date, they decided to make it official at the concert. A big bonus to this decision was that they could share their first dance to their favorite artist singing live!

Getting an Officiant for their Concert Ceremony

The best friend of the bride served as the officiant for their ceremony after getting ordained in the state of Arizona.

They had several friends who were also present at the concert who happened to have floor seats and ran over to serve as witnesses for the nuptials.

Choosing the Perfect Moment

Rene chose to exchange their vows during a brief interlude of the concert when Swift was doing a costume change. A spoken word poem version of her lyrics from “Seven” plays throughout the stadium, and Rene decided that was the perfect moment to have the quickie ceremony.

Immediately after, Swift performs the song “Invisible String” from her Lover album, which the bride has chosen to walk down the aisle to at their later wedding.

The Couple’s Concert Wedding Attire

The bride wore a satin Sachin & Babi dress paired with a veil, both of which she purchased at Anthropologie Weddings, along with a pair of Badgley Mischkaa shoes. The groom wore an Indochino tuxedo.

A Budget-Friendly Wedding Idea

Though the bride and groom are still planning to have a bigger celebration down the line, their quickie concert ceremony would make for a great low-budget option for any couple who wants to have a fun and memorable wedding experience.

Outside of their concert tickets, the only costs involved would be their attire, a marriage license, and an officiant. So for couples looking to get married on a budget, having an elopement at a concert might be a great choice.

The Bride’s Advice for Anyone Planning a Wedding

“You can make up your own rules for how you want to get married. And you can have as many celebrations for it as you want, and if that bothers people, then that’s their problem.”
