DIY Wedding Bouquets, Three Ways

1) Peony and garden rose bouquet, whimsical designs with horizontally focused greenery with short ribbons

This bouquet features the following flowers: peony, garden rose, standard rose, larkspur, Queen Anne’s lace, scabiosa, lisianthus, astrantia, snap dragon, eucalyptus, spray rose, astilbe, thistle, and nigella.
I selected a mixture of round/textured flowers to create fullness and visual interest.  I used a single large peony as the central focal flower to draw in the eye, and added some greenery spraying outward to add a dash of whimsy.  The bouquet was then finished with hanging ribbons to add movement.

2) Protea flower focus with cascading eucalyptus and long ribbons

This bouquet features the following flowers: snap dragon, nigella, larkspur, standard rose, astilbe, spray rose, scabiosa, lisianthus, thistle, seeded eucalyptus, king protea

Design inspiration: I selected spiky shaped flowers so that the bouquets would have a long, linear shape.  I then used a mixture of round/textured flowers to create fullness and visual interest.  I also used a single large Protea as the central focal flower to draw in the eye.  The bouquet was then finished with hanging ribbons to add movement.

3) Tight rose bouquet with ribbon wrap

This bouquet features the following flowers: peony, spray rose, garden rose, lisianthus, astrantia, scabiosa, nigella, ranunculus

I selected rounder shaped blooms to avoid the linear, spiky shape and to achieve the softer, rounder and more compact look.  In general, flower selection is based primarily on the bride’s preference for the shape of her bouquet (round/compact vs. long/linear), the bride’s color palette, the seasonal availability of the blooms, and then any specific blooms that are important or meaningful to the bride.
