How did you meet?

Kevin’s roommate and my best friend’s co-worker thought we should meet, as they thought we’d be a great fit. After months of trying to get our schedule to match up, the group of us met up on Rainey Street for drinks and a concert. That was the first of many fun summer nights spent together and the last summer we’d be single.

What is your proposal story?

Kevin and I are adventurous travelers. One night when hanging out at home, enjoying a slide show of pictures Kevin put together of our travels and fun times, the last slide was one I wasn’t expecting. He had made a slide saying, “you’ve been a fun wedding date to 10 weddings, will you be my date to one more”. I was confused as could be until I looked over and saw him down on one knee!

Tell us about your wedding vision.

Being a ginger, I love natural colors and with Kevin being an Aggie, maroon would, of course, be worked into the mix.

Tell us about your attire choices.

I wanted my bridesmaids to be in natural shades of reds, blushes, or maroons and let them choose the color of the dress but selected certain cuts. Azazie made this task super easy! I then worked around those colors for flowers, centerpieces, and accent colors.

For the guys, I found Generation Tux that made choosing an affordable suit EASY and budget friendly for our groomsmen. I didn’t think black would match the natural colors of the dress or venue (it was a winery) so chose a slate blue that complemented the skin tone of my groom and his buddies. If you don’t know about generation tux it’s the type of company that takes your measurements online, sends the suit to your home, and you try on pieces until you find the sizes that best fit. After the wedding, you send them back, and bam, done!

What was most important to you two while planning? Was there anything you chose to splurge on or skip?

Cost, of course, was key but the venue we chose was so beautiful and had inclusions like chairs, tables, lighting, and draping that we didn’t need to jazz up the place too much. Oak Valley had a lot of inclusions so our event company chose the right linen and floral company to fill in the rest to make it all look picture perfect!

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Our event company made the schedule of events so simple that showing up, marrying my man, and having fun were all I needed to do. Can’t ask for a better way to REALLY enjoy your wedding.

Tell us about your wedding flowers.

Kitsch Event Styling took me to Austin flower Co. one morning and I had so much fun picking out all the flowers that I loved. They then molded all of my ideas and visions together and sent me what they thought I would like in a proposal. Everything came out exactly how I wanted 🙂

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Having an event planner made our day so easy and enjoyable. If this is something you can fit in your budget I think it makes all the difference!
