Hello Kitty Inspired Pop-up Bridal Trunk Show

Lyra Vega Bridal is a small online wedding gown boutique with a mission to bring transparency, convenience, and practicality to the wedding dress shopping process. we are firm believers that the modern bride shouldn’t have to conform to traditional ideas of how a wedding is done! Our Spring/Summer 2018 collection is all about women empowerment. This collection is full of gowns that highlight the strength and femininity of each bride, with rich details that are diverse and glamorous, yet modern and chic. At under $1000 for each gown (including shipping), we want our brides to wear our gowns with ease and power!

The Inspiration

This pop up bridal trunk show inspired by Hello Kitty (we all have that little girl living in our hearts, right?) was planned to capture the fun, freedom, and excitement we want our brides to feel through the planning of their wedding. It’s pink and playful and kinda different. With the help of a team of talented and wonderful vendors, we put together this colorful and fun day where women can play around in wedding gowns, have a little fun, and take a break from the big decisions around wedding planning!

Ria Mackenzie from Ria Mackenzie Photography captured this shoot’s playful energy perfectly. While planning for the shoot, we sat with Ria to hone in on the spirit we wanted to see through the images. We wanted more than just a pretty style shoot, but something that would resonate with our audience and bring some fun and lightness into their day. Her natural and lively style was the perfect fit for this shoot, capturing the fun of the day, and forever recording it in her images.

Beauty

Hair and Make up for our squad of models were done by the talented team at Making You Glow Hair and Makeup. Sarah, owner of Making You Glow shares her main objective when creating the hair and makeup for this shoot was to maintain a timeless bridal look with a little bit of “girly” fun!! Adapting classic beauty into a colorful world was the focus. For makeup, she kept a more natural esthetic and added the pop of color into the models’ lash lines and on their lips. Examining each girl as if she was a real bride, she enhanced their natural features and determined which shade of pink would be best according to their skin tone, eye color, and the shade of their hair. For hairstyling, she directed my team to pursue a more relaxed and modest appearance, but with a fun twist. Keeping the dresses as our main focus, clean, simple, suave hairstyles for each girl, while incorporating fun do’s that kept things fresh and fun!

The Details

Photobooth props, stationery, and custom champagne flutes were created by Amy from Amy Weiss Designs. As a designer, she likes taking an idea and breaking it down to uncover its essence,  to design something unique that really reflects the personality or “theme of the organization”. For this shoot, she took “fun”, “pink”, “modern”, “Cat(!)” and brought a lot of fun elements for us to play around.

For our cake, Gayoung, owner and pastry chef at Soul Cake Shop wanted to create a fun, chic, and modern cake that would fit with the theme and energy, so she incorporated pink and gold accents to this golden vanilla cake in layers pink, with Swiss meringue buttercream filling and vanilla flavored fondant. She hand painted a cascade of edible hearts out of petal dust and vodka mix, and topped it all off with the sweet Hello Kitty signature bow!

The cake topper and cake stand are designed and made by Wei from WEI. She took the colors and modern needs of this shoot and created these custom pieces that so perfectly captured our cool girl vibes!

Doris Loves USA provided light up letters that literally made the shoot shine. We knew we wanted something epic for this shoot and their giant light up letters definitely helped make a statement and set the tone!

You can’t have a party without some sweets! Sugarfina’s Sanrio line of gummies made for the perfect party favor and the Hello Kitty bow bento box even doubled as a clutch for one of our models!

Kate Whitcomb Shoes brought in the perfect pop of pink we needed for this shoes. We also love their patent-pending technology to customize each pair of shoes with a personal message!

Erin Does Events helped put everything together, from concept design to hauling balloons, this woman does it all!<
