Did you do any DIY Projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?

I hand-crafted most of our decor and signage. I had a few more DIY projects planned but at the last minute scrapped them due to wedding stress.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

We personalized our shoes to match our theme and to match each other, and it was such a cute little detail (that made for some great photos!). Also, we tried to make our day full of things we really liked – our favorite foods, our favorite desserts, our favorite music. It felt like it really encapsulated us as a couple.

What is the most memoriable moment of your day?

Our last dance was so lovely, we played Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You” and everyone joined us on the dance floor. It was the perfect moment to end the perfect day.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

Cut our guest count! Every guest adds up – having a smaller guest count allowed us to keep costs down. We also opted not to have an open bar, which cut our alcohol costs significantly. We decided not to have a DJ and made playlists that a trusted friend played for us on schedule. Lastly, we decided not to have a wedding cake and instead ordered our favorite desserts.

It is important to note that we got a special deal from our amazing photographer Stefanie Munoz. The package we had for $600 is normally $2800, which ofcourse was a big money saver.

What was your biggest splurge?

Catering for sure – to us, food was an important detail and when we had the food at SanTan we knew we had to go with them. Everything was so delicious, I wouldn’t change a thing.

What was your favorite details?

I loved the little galaxy touches we added, my hair and nails, the stars on the signs, the shoes. They made the wedding feel more intimate and personal.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

No one will notice the details the way you do. At the last minute, I almost changed all my wedding signs because I didn’t like that they looked homemade. No one noticed, and on the day of, neither did I!
