How did you meet?

We met online! I signed up for eHarmony 3 weeks ahead of him. We matched, and talked on the phone the next day for almost 3 hours! We have so much in common. Getting to know each other felt easy.

What is your proposal story?

We got engaged after he talked to my dad to ask for his blessing. My family is old school. So it meant the world to me – and to them.

Tell us a little bit about your wedding.

Simplicity, nature, and comfort. We didn’t want our wedding to feel like work. We wanted it to be light and breezy. So, we stuck with the basics and our favorite things!

Tell us about your attire choices.

We kept things pretty comfy because we are both relaxed and wanted our clothes to feel like us. I chose my dress first.

Then we picked his suit out together. I had custom-made rose velvet shoes from Greece cause I opted to skip jewelry and wanted a special accessory. They matched the flowers perfectly.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning?

I’m really glad we wrote our own vows. It was definitely worth it.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

My big sister got ordained so she could officiate the wedding. She wrote a ceremony that fit us perfectly.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

My big sister made the flower arrangements – including my bouquet – using Blooms by the Box. For the ceremony, we chose a path on a park trail and used a rug to stand on. Then we let nature work her magic!

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

I had a very special stone woven into my bouquet; a worry stone from my childhood best friend. Each time I felt it in my hand – I thought of her. So, it felt like she was there.

I surprised my husband with custom made socks with my face and our pup Pippa’s face on them. It was a surprise that I had the photographer give to him before the first look.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Choose your goal before you start planning, and stay focused on it when you make your choices. Do you want to have a small celebration of your love? Do you want to have a huge party and go all out? Your wedding should fit you – no two need to be alike.

The only thing that matters is that it’s special to you.
