Bright and Bold Summer Wedding

Styled Shoot submitted by Tori Lynn Photography

What was your design inspiration?

The inspiration design stemmed from the bright and bold color combinations you see in India, Morocco, and Mexico. I adore bright colors and summer feels! Incorporating modern day styling and florals made the vision come to life! With this design, any spring or summer bride is sure to find ways to turn her dream into a reality!

Describe your flowers.

I experimented with the combinations of hot pinks to balance the orange and yellows, or reds to balance the green. I grouped multiple color roses, carnations and spray roses together to achieve a dramatic color scheme. Ranunculus, these romantic rosette flowers with an enormous petal count that look like an origami masterpiece made from crepe paper, are there for textural purposes. I will not forget about the one textural favorite of mine: pincushion protea which I included in the bridal bouquet to contrast its spiky and furry look against the deep and velvety texture of roses. To add richness to the bridal bouquet I counted in Craspedia and Berzelia, two different yet same shape plant material. For foliage, I added Podocarpus and Eucalyptus to outline the bouquet and arrangement. I love designing in tall vases because not only it is economical in space, but the elevated design is amazing for a statement centerpiece. To visually balance it I added trailing Amaranthus. The boutonniere has the same plant materials to complement the bridal bouquet.

Describe your cake.

Our two-tiered buttercream hand painted cake tied in the bright and bold colors with a touch of gold, and floral accents. The design was nothing short of perfection from top to bottom. Our designer gave each layer an abstract modern feel by sweeping on our bright color palette. No cake is complete without florals so of course, we added our favorites and some greenery to give it the overall look of perfection!

Tell us about your attire choices.

With a brightly colored theme, we went with more neutral and less detailed gowns both in ivory which allow any bride to accessorize and add all the color they want!

Our first gown is designed by Rebecca Ingram. This chiffon boho-inspired wedding dress features a sheer bodice accented in beaded lace atop an Aria Chiffon skirt. A V-neck, V-back, and beaded spaghetti straps complete this sheath gown. Finished with crystal buttons and zipper closure.

Our second gown was designed by Sottero and Midgley. Lush lace motifs and crosshatching cascade over tulle in this A-line wedding dress, accenting the unique train, nude waistline, V-neck, illusion straps, and illusion V-back. Finished with covered buttons over zipper closure.

Describe any DIY or handmade items.

Simple details such as the ribbon runner made our bright colors pop throughout! When doing your own decorating your local thrift stores are a must stop!

Describe the tablescape elements.

Our tables were full of colored vases and candle holders of all shapes and sizes. We layered each place setting with touched of our bright colors. From bottom to top we started with an off-white charger plate. Pressed in the middle is a fuschia cloth napkin, to top off our setting we added turquoise dinner plates! Florals were a huge part of this inspiration so the centerpieces were the main focal point on our tables!
