Would you believe these flowers are made from Egg Cartons? We couldn’t either!

I’m excited to be back sharing another eco-friendly wedding decoration idea for you to consider for your big day. I personally love to craft and decorate using natural materials or found materials to transform them into something beautiful.

I was excited to discover that egg cartons make surprisingly good flowers. These egg carton flowers can be used in bouquets and centerpieces, as cake toppers and escort cards, or even turned into fire starters to give away as favors! It’s amazing what you can do with a little time and creativity.

How to make egg carton roses

Materials needed:

  • Egg carton
  • Scissors
  • Water
  • Something to curl the petals, I use a small paintbrush
  • Glue

Time needed: 5 minutes

How to make flowers out of pinecones for the ultimate eco-friendly wedding decorations!

  1. Cut two tips off.

Remove two of the center “cones” from your egg carton. These will make up the inner pieces of your flower.

  2. Cut three bowls from the egg carton.

Use your scissors to cut three egg holes out of your egg carton. I know it’s hard to imagine this turning into a beautiful rose, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

  3. Cut bowls and tips so all of them have four petals each.

Use scissors to trim rounded edges on each petal of your flower. Your flowers are starting to take shape — are you starting to see the potential?

  4. Wet with water and curl the petals.

Getting the material a little damp will help to make it more pliable so you can shape the petals into the form you want. Now they’re looking more petal-like!

  5. Stack the pieces and let dry.

Stacking the petals as you wish for them to be arranged when they are dry will help them to form in the proper shape.

  6. Glue the pieces together, and voila! You’re done!

Egg Carton flowers could be used for bouquets and boutonnières, to decorate signs, frames, lanterns, and votives. With a bit of paint, they can easily be colored to match any color scheme! You could try painting the petals before you glue them together or after.

We hope you found this idea inspirational and unique! Check out more of my Eco-friendly DIY posts here.
